You must have very safe roads where you live.

Here you can't go two miles without seeing a bicycle memorial to some poor cyclist who was mown down by some (probably Prius ;)) driver

the generally relatively very light pedestrian traffic (at least here, downtown/campus area is obviously different) on a sidewalk can make it tempting to hop on a sidewalk with your bike during busy auto traffic times

There are some dedicated bike lanes here, but having long-time roadie roots all I want is relatively smooth pavement and I can get my 20 miles in essentially anywhere.

I do have blinding lights front and rear and I am very cautious and assume nothing. But, like Clint used to say “we’ve all got it comin’ kid !”
My uncle used to have a saying about that- "you can't eat the weather"

I get it, and so far I have been unsuccessful in my quest but I am in shorts from mid/late April until the beginning of November. Sometimes the middle if we have a little heat wave..!

I really like the sun over my skin, sometimes (mostly in winter) I can almost feel the chlorophyll function feeding body and soul.
I Take off the shirt on every occasion I have, but long time ago I don't do it anywhere.

I don't do it in front of old ladies, or anyone who may be perturbed. Unless I am at the sea, pool, or in the country.
I won't enter a shop or "Terraza" (exposed restaurant) shirtless.

I would go sh.less to the "Chiringuito" (beach bar), but would put on anything if I'm gonna eat more than a "Tapa".
Mama said to put on anything for eating, and I like it.

I don't have a problem in others being wild, but me? neh

I'm no Jabba the Hutt, but the lack of a decent ozone layer in these parts makes exposing skin a dangerous game here.

So I rarely go shirtless, unless it's in my garden, and even then it's just for a few minutes.

But yeah, winter sun is good - got to keep my serotonin levels up or I get grouchy (apparently)

Shirtless in a neighborhood if you're a kid or a teen. If someone defines themselves as a man, then no. Sleeveless shirts? Save up for a T shirt. Noise pollution. Light pollution in urban or rural areas, visual pollution.? Your right , but just sad.

I live in the middle of nearly nowhere, so I get to take my shirt off when I work outside. This is despite the fact that, as I am 75, my behavior must be fairly horrifying for any onlookers who happen to drive by.

If I'm out walking about in nice weather and the sun is out, I'll more likely than not take off my shirt.
I feel I soak up the beneficial aspects of the sun more efficiently that way (of course, being a ginger, I am careful to not overdo it)

I am no greek statue but I'm not a fat slob, either.

I get it's considered a bit uncouth and uncivilized, but I don't much care (see profile pic)

Thoughts?
Live your life brother! I don't see that as inappropriate at all.

Sometimes my shirt comes off during a particularly fun show. Usually outdoors and some combination of completely sweat saturated and no idea that/how it happened.

personally i really don't care, but i don't because other people do.

i think the only places i have done/would do (outside of like, the beach) are punk or techno gigs, because with that many people jammed into a room it's absurdly hot and nobody else cares.

It's so rare here that I try to make the most of the off-winter months that I can, and soak it up, as Sheryl Crow's song says

I do have a SADS light that I've used to pretty good effectiveness
It's usually pretty good here for winter sun, but this winter has been really, REALLY wet and cloudy. Like Welsh weather, but not as cold

I'm not sure if I did, but I am sure I was an idiot. Time to grow up, stop giggling and accept your fate.
Are you talking in the third person or to me? Unclear. At 66 I'm actually in super good shape and don't look bad without a shirt. I still keep it on. For one thing, I'm starting to get age spots, and those turn very dark very quickly when exposed to UV.....
