I'm looking for a replacement for the black plastic tip on my Tele.
I remember reading about a chrome or metal replacement tip that also had a screw to tighten it onto shaft.
I've done a search,but can't find it now.

I actually have a brass one from Forney, who I found on Reverb, being delivered today for my esquire. I can chime in later once it has artived. It looked to be nice quality, so Im sure between Rutters and possibly Forney you would be set. It was like $12 shipped and they had an array of colors.

The Rutters is heavy and very nice. I also have a Forney set with matching knobs. They both work. My strat has a plastic one from a company I don't remember. Spend an hour on Google and you'll have more selections than you'll ever possibly need. (Unless you're that guy with 6 dozen guitars in his basement.)

I appreciate this thread...I've been wanting to find metal switch tips to coordinate with the volume and tone knobs. The traditional black plastic ones just don't excite my anal self.

Thanks for this thread, it came along at the right time. My Broadcaster tip broke internally almost immediately and I have a CS that I bought used without a tab and none of the normal parts seem to fit...

A five way Strat switch is essentially a three way, with a couple extra detents. It has the total swing of a three way. The four way swings further.

Well it's an Oak Grigsby super switch in a Tele, not a standard fender strat 5 way, but you may still be correct.

I have a bunch of switches on hand. And calipers :).

The slot length on CRL 5-way Strat and CRL 3-way Tele: identical, at .979".

O-G Super Switch: 1.00" exactly. Doesn't matter which flavor it is - ToneShapers, Stewmac's very wide one, two-pole (half super), or even the new Discrete 5-way. They're all the same.

O-G 4-way: 1.19".

The new O-G 6-way is the longest slot, at 1.26".

The longer the slot, the further the switch handle leans in the end positions. More lean means a wide tip may bump into the plate, restricting full rotation.
