He is so good, he's got it all. I love The Marcus King Band, but I have a thing for more intimate performances like this one. The sound recording and the footage do it justice too.

There are many many great musicians that I dearly love obviously, but I don't remember being so impressed by one like Marcus King since I discovered Jeff Buckley in the mid nineties while in high school.
There is the brilliant and tasty guitar playing, there is the feel and there is the songwriting; and it's when you think it's already complete... that you hear the voice.

I was writing my first songs and doing my first gigs when I discovered Buckley, and after that I remember feeling more motivated and yet discouraged at the same time. Incredibly gifted musicians always have this power of giving me mixed feelings. And these bitter sweet pleasures are always the most powerful.

I just found Marcus King a few months ago through the stuff he did with Billy Strings. And then heard Goodbye Carolina on the Jam in a Van sessions, was instantly a fan after that

Him getting with Warren Haynes was his big break. His dad was my guitar teacher for awhile. He's a local kid, was always great watching him gig around town. Good to see him break out worldwide, Marcus is one who deserves the accolades.

I practically wore out the MKB self titled album... the songs were just so good. A song like “Ain’t Nothin Wrong With That” could have easily been a hit for someone like Amy Winehouse. And then there’s his playing... I don’t know how you can draw from such a diverse catalog of influences, at the speed he does (and at that age). Definitely inspiring

This record has been playing in my car almost non stop for the last 6 months.
I guess that growing up in a musical family helps a lot. The way I see it now is that Marcus did not really start from scratch: he’s continuing along the path his father and before that, his grandfather, opened for him.
In some families it’s all about social ascent; but the arts and crafts can be left in legacy too.

Absolutely agree. I wish SOMEONE in my family played guitar (or even any musical instrument).......it would be such massive leap ahead before you even started to grow up having learned already the things your father sweated bullets to learn, like im doing now :)

Saw him for free, walked up to front row in Southern Pines NC. His s/t just broke a month before that.

Seen him Probably 6 times. He plays the Carolinas a ton. Killer pipes, killer tone, and that jazzy blues thing where he steps out is awesome for the genre. Dig it all. And so young. Hope he keeps wreckin'.
