This type of handshake used to be popular when I was a kid back in the 70's but for some reason golfers seem to use it alot nowadays. I thought it faded away?

All that was old is new again. So many kids running around dressed like they were at Woodstock and probably never heard of it.

It’s a peculiar custom, handshaking. Kinda creeps me out. I’m in business, so I have to do it a lot. Lately, I’ve noticed more people seem to forgo the handshake. Fine with me. I think the Asians have the right idea. There’s no touching.
Handshakes with Japanese businessmen are very awkward: no squeeze...

Referring to that as “urban” is hilarious. If it’s followed up by a one-armed hug, it’s getting closer but still. And keep in mind, this is coming from a suburban white guy.

It's a weird photo, the guy on the left looks miserable and the guy on the right , based on the position and color of his finger tips, is squeezing very hard.

It's just Tiger and Sergio. Some great matches over the years, though Sergio's putter has prevented him from winning more tournaments.

i like the fist bump best...minimum contact and less germs to get transferred
no test of strength either. This whole idea of a "firm handshake" meaning anything about a person's character is absurd and then you have the guys who try to one up you on PSI, I want to spend as little time touching other men as possible.

Then there’s the misconception that, if you turn your palm downward, you maintain this psychological advantage over the person whose palm is face up. What a stupid concept.

This is the "Hippy" handshake. Part 1 of a 3 part handshake that I think came around in the '70s. I much prefer it to the normal handshake where you get idiots trying to squeeze too hard.
