Any recommendations for Tele pickups for a thinline ??
Standard single coil Tele size pickups.

Hoping to get more Rock & Blues sound
as it currently sounds too thin

Thanks in advance

Have you tried them in a thinline ??

Thanks

To be honest, no, I haven’t.
I’m not a Thinline fan.
Though my avatar guitar looks like a Thinline, it’s an imposter, it’s not hollow.
I had a great looking 1969 Thinline in my youth.
I have never bonded with any I have played.
They sound, wait for it, thin to me.
I assume a slightly higher output pickup would help with the sonic, uh, thin-ness.

That's interesting. I've been thinking i really want one, because of the weight, but if they sound thin, not so much.

There’s a school of thought that they aren’t really hollow enough to sound much different from a regular Tele and that the thinness in sound comes from the fact the original 60’s Thinlines and the MIM reissues come stock with 1Meg pots.

I don’t know what model the OP has but it might be worth checking and swapping pot values before buying new pickups.

I find them thin when played unplugged but plugged in they sound very close to a regular tele. I like the 64 reissue set in regular and thinline teles. Hre's one I built that has the 64's.

I recently tried some high output pickups in a thinline.
That thing squeeled like a stuck pig.

I put Lollar CCs in my thinline, and it's not thin, all kinds of oomph and push. Still twangy believe it or not.

Turn the amp up
Turn the guitar volume down
Use a J Rockett Archer as a boost pedal.

I currently have seven thinline-style and nine solid body Teles in my collection. I can't honestly say that any one of the thinlines sounds "thin" or "lesser" than any one of the solid Teles. They all sound terrific to me, and that is after dumping several of each type that I didn't care for tonally. They also each have some unique tonal qualities (helps justify keeping them all!) that I feel comes from the sum of their respective parts. But I don't feel that it's accurate to generalize that a semi-hollow Tele body is going to sound worse than a solid Tele body. There's much more to the equation than that.

If you're GAS'ing for a thinline Tele, you ought to play a few and judge for yourself. I love 'em for the look, the sound, and the light weight!

As for pickup recommendations, my three favorite thinlines have 1) Don Mare Hayrides, 2) Lollar Specials, and 3) Twisted Tele & Rumpelstiltskin White Rope.

Enjoy!
Rick

Which pickups ??

Thanks

Cav Huge Bridge and Seth Lover neck.

Squeal only appeared when drive pedal engaged. Perhaps
there was no to little block. I have since moved this project
to a solid body tele. I may switch this project with a Nashv
I have.

I have the Fender '64's in my Thinline, sounds great. Seem to have a bit more 'snarl' than the 52's I have in another Tele (love the '52's in it).
