What do people think? I am more interested in the FM4 but would gladly snatch both.

I've had the DM4 for a long time, now, I guess since back when they first put it out

Strictly my opinion, but the effects in the MM4 are far more usable under most circumstances than those in the FM4. Unless of course you are looking for something to handle the "now for something completely different" type of sounds.

These are well made pedals that sound great. The delay model is still the most common and on pro boards everywhere. That said... they don't have a lot of value (other than the delay).... make sure you get them for a good price. Here in Winnipeg I don't think you could ask more than $100 for these.... other than the delay which moves for $200 regularly.

The FM4 is of course one very crazy dude but most of the sounds are better combined with each other or require tap tempo. So the M9 is the far better FM4. The MM4 sounds very good, is very usable and super handy. Cannot recommend it enough.

The FM4 is a strange beast, it's a really cool pedal but can be a pain in the a...

Anyway if you'll buy it i suggest you to get a compressor pedal to put after the FM4, there are some algorithms that are just too loud and you can't adjust the output volume.

For example i have the M9 and i use one synth sound but if i don't put a compressor after it i'm scared that it's going to blow the amp speaker.

About the MM4 is also a great tool and you can get it for a very good price but consider the M9 instead oh those two.

I've noticed the FM4 being sold off cheap. Surprised me that Line 6 didn't update this line years ago. I'd like to see a Helix level replacements although I suspect they are just being killed off, leaving Helix FX as one box to rule them all.

Well you can consider the M9 -M13 a sort of update of that line, but i think that they should have done some firmware update for the M9 and M13

Nearly forgot that I had an M9 for a while. I guess, although not as specific as a tool as the 4 series. The DL4 was the archetype for big box delays; Line6 created a market and then gave up on it as Korg, tc, Boss, Strymon, Source Audio, Empress ( and whoever I’ve forgotten) took it over.

I still love my FM4. It was what initially got me into real synths. The autowah is worth the price alone. If you get one make sure you get an expression pedal too, because that makes it a lot more useable.
