This is the headstock off of a guitar that Nels Cline had for a split second in a YouTube video. Anyone recognize the name in the logo? It’s a black jazzmaster-esque guitar. Very boutique looking.

Video for reference look at approximately 40 sec in.

Looks like a "LeDuc" model...maybe?
Maybe.... I don’t think so though. It looks like there is a d, but it looks like the 2nd to last letter, followed by a y. But I’m not 100%. Plus a quick look at leduc’s website doesn’t turn anything up that looks like this one.

It was the only one that came to mind when I saw it, but then I don't know a lot of custom builders.

I think the difficult part is that you are talking about an artist who hoardes guitars and many from very small to almost obscure luthiers. He is a big fan of "BilT" guitars out of Des Moines, Iowa. They make some great Jazzmaster-style guitars and are terrific to deal with, but they are not the kind of shop that you will see on the convention floor. What-ever this mystery builder might be, it might just be a single guy building guitars in his basement somehwere in the middle of nowhere with this one being one of only a handful.

I do a love a good mystery, though, and am curious, but not sure if it will be discovered for certain.
