Are there any good brick-and-mortar guitar shops in Portland? It seems to be a hub for pedal builders so there should be somewhere in town to buy guitars.

No.
The Pedal Builders have a thing going with the City of Portland - No store is allowed to sell Guitars.

I may be wrong about that.

???? That's incorrect.

I was just in Portland, and they most certainly do sell guitar's. My favorite is centaur guitar. There is also Portland music company, trade up music, artichoke community music and others ( including GC).

There is also guitar crazy, they used to have a shop but are now appt only. When they were a brick and mortar I bought a reverse flying V from them. The guy that runs the store is pretty cool.

I used to visit Pro Guitar Shop when in town, unfortunately, they closed their doors a few years back. They had a wide variety both guitars & especially recall their pedals!

I like Centaur Guitars best. Knowledgeable staff, fair prices, great vibe. They even have used guitars that they don't call vintage. More pedals than I have ever seen.

Centaur is a great store. Agree they are best in Portland.

I'm in Portland 2x year ( family lives there), and I stop in and usually buy a pedal .

Uptown Music. I would recommend them to anyone. About a 45 minute drive south on I-5 in Keizer oregon.
The big stores have more stock and more techs and you can't get that in a small town store, but when you get treated right time after time and the guy behind the counter acts like he cares if you come back or not, well you just don't get that in the big stores.

I never promised you a rose garden

APPLE MUSIC is a must see downtown Portland destination. Check out the ancient guitars hanging form the ceiling. Definitely pick up some store branded picks!

UPDATE - I just learned APPLE's storefront is Kaput. :(
While you're in Portland check out the Chinese garden. And then the Japanese garden. And then the rose garden.

I am in Portland at the moment. Great city! I've been here all week. The stores I have found are GCish.

Good donuts, though, especially in Tigard.
