Hi,

I have a new Telecaster Baja on the way, Butterscotch with the blackguard. I was just wondering if some of you guys could post pics of any pickguard change you made (white, tortoise, etc...). It would gives me a good idea of how it looks and some different options I would not have thought about.

thx

Imho, it's a color that doesn't work well unless it's got a black pickguard tying it together.

YMMV

Check out the Baja owners club thread, lots of good looking alternatives shown there. Parchment and most torts look good, imo.

Tried this tortoise and another light brown pearl. Went back to basic black

HERECY, only BLACK is allowed.

Just kiddin, go for it.

I once saw one with a tortoise red pickguard that looked pretty cool.

I tried a few different guards but the black was best so I bought a matt black 50's one from a Fender dealer near me. It looks even better than the original glossy one.

I am of the mind that it's a colour best complemented by a black guard, but tort looks pretty good too. I really need to change my BWB out for matte black.

Not only is the Telecaster very versatile in tone and play-ability, it is also very versatile in how easy it is to change its looks. 10 minutes with a screwdriver and a few different pickguards, can change the look of your guitar.

I don't have a BSB Baja, but I have a lighter Desert Sand one, which wears a variety of pickguards

Heck, you could even change pickguards on a Tele between sets;-)

I normally only like black pickguards on blonde finishes but that 3-ply white-black-white pickguard on Desert Sand really works for me.

The others look cool too though...
