I'm finding the EH Small Clone is (ironically enough) too damn big for my pedalboard. Has anyone tried the Neo Clone and how does it compare? Is it worth the $$$, or shall I look elsewhere?

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance. :)

Not much help I'm afraid, because I love the Small Clone but really dislike both the Neo and the Nano.

They both just lack the warmth and the mojo of the Small Clone imo.

Ah, I can live with the loud switch, but if the Neo doesn't get the same tone as the Small Clone, then I might look somewhere else. Any good chorus suggestions, preferably with a small footprint?

I've got a Neo Clone and like it a lot. I used to have a Small Clone and I like the Neo Clone just as well.

So I have two against the Nano and one for. :)

Any suggestions for other good-sounding chorus pedals with a small footprint?

The Neo clone is supposed to be the same pedal as the Small clone in a smaller footprint, from what I've read.

That's what I understand, but what I'm trying to find out is if the Neo sounds just like the Small Clone in reality.

Never tried the E-H stuff, so no opinion there...

Been using a Boss CE-5, nice and chimey, fairly close to the original CE-1 (the BIG pedal)... also flexible with tone controls on there too... and runs stereo...

They look cool. What can you tell me about them? :)

Malekko (Analogue) - Absolutely tiny and a little expensive, very lush and flanger sounding pedal. Not really very subtle and a bit love/hate.

Guyatone (Analogue?) - Only one I don't really know much about. Heard it's good though and can probably be bought for a good price.

Tc Electronic Corona (Digital) - Definitely the most versatile of the lot and in my opinion an absolute gem. Not only does it sound great but it also has three modes. Normal mode is your regular chorus and controls over depth and mix mean you can get anything from diving into a shimmering sea of chorus to clean and subtle. It also had tri-chorus mode which is three chorus' with their lfo overlapping. This means that you don't get that fluncuation. Great for dirty tones or super clean "is it really on" type sounds. Last is tone print mode, pretty much they got a bunch of celebrity guitarists together and got them to tweak all the parameters (not just the knobs on the pedal but lfo width, delay ect.) in the pedal via software to make a signiture sound. You can download these off the tc electronics website and put them on the pedal occupying just the tone print mode slot (you keep the regular chorus and tri-chorus on the pedal as well). Some of them are quite good.
Some other handy features are analogue dry-through (no digital convertion) and selectable true bypass or buffer.
Some bad things are: A) Some quality control issues and B) It's digital, you might not like that for whatever reason (I think it's great, hence the paragraph on it).

Analog Man Chorus: Very clean, shimmery sounding. Some people have complained it's a bit cold.

Some more suggestions:
Jaques Meistersinger - Probably the undesputed champion of bare bones analogue chorus design. If you are willing to spend a little more (and I don't mean that much) I think this the way to go.

Earthquaker Devices Sea Machine: Another versatile pedal but especially good if your a fan of dream pop/shoegaze or post-punk. Never tried it personally but I hear it's pretty excellent.

Good luck.

The reason I stopped using the big small clone and my Boss CE-5, is that I found that my Boss HR2 detune settings is a better chorus.

It's true that the Neo is supposed to be a smaller Small Clone, sounding exactly the same.

Only it doesn't !

EHX have yet to clone the Small Clone.

If there's not enough space, kick another pedal off your board!
The Small Clone is irreplaceable :)

Actually, chorus has a slightly lower priority these days since there's not much call for it in the bands I'm playing with. I prefer the Small Clone because it's a more tactile chorus and it goes great with distortion. Tone-wise, I'm thinking more Nirvana's 'Come as You Are,' The Police and Siouxsie and the Banshees rather than the classic 80's El-Lay chorus.

Thanks for the suggestions. Keep 'em coming! :)

I own a Small Clone reissue, and a Neo Clone (not to be confused with the Nano Clone). The Small Clone and Neo Clone sound exactly the same. The difference is the size. Personally, I prefer The Clone Theory. Sounds different than the Small/Neo Clone.

I never liked the way either sound in all the videos I've seen. Never played one though. I'm leaning toward the MXR micro chorus myself at $79.00. For a low price the Joyo chorus sound pretty good too at $40.00.
