For the last three days, my wife has been bingeing on YT videos of people getting busted for smuggling cigarettes, ephedrine, and critters into Australia and New Zealand.

I can’t imagine wanting to watch that…it’s like the saddest, most stupid story, again and again.

"Cops" is a popular show here .... and they don't have to pay any actors.

THE sweetest most conservative lady I know (she's ~70) wont watch TV at all.... EXCEPT Cops! Every time I visit she's got a new one with some crack head holed up in a trailer hollering' at the cops and laughs herself to tears!

Her other pursuits are rather high brow, way into science and literature but loves her Cops!!!

my wife likes shows that i often tolerate (I can read tdpri while completely keeping up with what has happened) but I would never watch. This includes any reality show, GMA, survivor etc. I think her narrative needs are just way different from mine. The difference is that I do not say mean stuff while watching... okay, I sometimes say 'this is not news' when GMA is on.

I have become entranced with multiple youtube channels where they fix things, help people and build interesting homes in super remote areas. My wife mocks all of it and delivers the hate if she enters the room and it is on.

I'm unphased. I don't like drama and I like positive people who seem happy in their toil. I am not alone, there are thousands and thousands of us that like the same stuff.

In a similar vein, I had a gf who liked watching all the reality shows with the name "wars" in them. Storage Wars, Celebrity Wars, Bridal Wars, Parking Wars, etc. In the latter instance it was a lot of people in a courtroom pleading their case of destitution and misery in hopes they could get their car out of impound. It was sad.

That said, I've been watching dashcam videos of car wrecks and disasters for around 20 years now so I guess I'm no better.

There's an Arkansas State Trooper name of Jacob Byrd who is famous on YouTube for his pursuit skills. I'm pretty sure they had to buy a big junk yard to park all of the totaled out cruisers he wrecked in the line of duty. He just doesn't let speeders, robbers, or just those who like a good race get away.

I once worked with someone who became a popular viral video and target of comedy sketches after she berated a woman at an impound lot. She did it standing directly in front of a large sign warning everyone that you're being recorded. 🤣

Question is, will she watch the Jack-ars series next, or did she just prior?? ;)

If we could combine these the shows might be more exciting

As I age out I can't handle conflict any more. I can watch war movies but those confrontational YT videos put me on edge.

I guess I can differentiate between fiction and reality no matter how graphic. I can watch a CGI of a dude getting his head blown off but a real street fight on YT really bugs me...
