I just pre-ordered one from Sweetwater. I think it’s the first time I’ve ever pre-ordered a pedal. Needless to say, I’m pretty excited.

I had an RT-20 for years and loved it. Pretty sure I’m going to love the RT-2 as well.

Great demo here:

Why did I open this thread? I need this pedal!

I've been using a Boss CE-5 Chorus Ensemble in the rotary speaker mode ( not really a mode but it can just be set up that way with the controls). for 20 years.
but this has some seriously great options

I'm afraid to see how much it is- may have to save up!

Edit- I got to pass it's just too much money for something that just gets limited use.
Plus I'm getting old- will just use what I got...
But it's a nice pedal

At $239 USD it’s not cheap, but reasonably priced IMO. Much less than the Neo Vent or Strymon Lex. The Keeley Rotary is approximately the same price, and it gets great reviews, so that’s a direct competitor.

I bought it based on my positive experience with the RT-20.

It is a good price, especially if you compare to a real Leslie or Univibe or something like that...

Just not my budget

It sounds pretty good. But EHX Lester G is only slightly more money, and I think it sounds better. The real tests are the slow speed (any vibe pedal can do the fast speed) and the quality of the grind. Start listening around 3:00. Of course, Bill Ruppert can make anything sound good.

EHX makes great sounding stuff, no doubt.

Over the decades I’ve had enough failures/quality issues that I just refuse to buy their stuff anymore. I’m done with them.

Sounds great, better than the H9 Rotary algo I currently use, but yeah not worth a separate pedal purchase.

This is somewhat tempting. I've had the Boss RT-20 for years but I mainly use it for recording. It's too bulky for gigs, where it will maybe get used on 1-2 songs if I'm lucky. I've been using the Vibrato setting on a Boss CE-2W for a pseudo-Leslie/rotary sound and it works -- then I can toggle to the chorus setting for a few songs/solos, so overall the CE-2W gets more use than a Boss RT-20 or RT-2 would for me.

I would never keep something as large as the RT-20 on my pedal board, nice as it is. If the RT-2 is everything I hope it is I’ll make room for it, no question.

The company that invented the rotating speaker has their own pedal

The Leslie "G" Pedal

I have this and IMHO is way better then the Strymon and the Boss RT20 with intuitive controls and 3 different options of cabinets. Is it the same as an actual Leslie cabinet? Of course not but if you want the sound of well mic'd Leslie in a studio situation than this is it.

I used to have a Pigtronix Rototron and liked it pretty well. I sold it while I was in x-ray school to help pay bills.

If I were buying a similar pedal today, I would probably go with the BOSS. It has a smaller footprint and my DD-8 has sold me on BOSS pedals again.. Though I think I’ll wait a while, until I can get one secondhand. By then, any issues with them should be out in the market and I’ll also probably save a chunk of money. It’s not something I used or would use all the time, but they can be kind of nice for another texture when looping blues and jazz stuff.

This is an old pic from a gig many years ago…the RT-20 did take up a fair bit of room but it was doable (I was also fairly new to using pedals, as my organizational skills and settings might indicate in this pic). If I remember correctly, I only used the RT-20 on 1 or maybe 2 songs max in a 1.5-hour show. (I’d check the recording of it but I’d rather not… one of the worst gigs I’d ever played.)
