I scored a Squier paranormal troublemaker It’s my 1st Squier and my only grip is the nut & tuners. I plan to replace the tuners with Goloth vintage locking tuners. I also plan to upgrade the nut & bridge. The latter m, I have questions on. I realize I need to purchase a 9.5 scale bridge replacement, does a roller bridge add any advantage for a hard tail? And is there a specific model anyone on here recommends?

What are the problems with the tuners and bridge?

Here’s mine, all I’m changing is the pups

I have a set of 57 Classics I’m dropping in

corner of walk and don't walk
Your bridge looks like a regular tuna-matic or adjusto-matic bridge.

As long as you can properly intonate the guitar, it should serve the purpose.

I don't think you could get much, if any, increased performance by switching it out.

That arrangement with the stop bar and tuna-matic bridge has proven to be a pretty good setup - it's just like most Gibsons.

Roller saddles can be a help if your guitar has a vibrato/trem, but for what is essentially a hard-tail guitar, they won't be a real upgrade.

edit - I see you are new here - welcome to the forum!

It’s gotten a bit better after a week of play but the tuners won’t hold. And my nut is cut a little close to the edge, the high e dives off the neck too easily. Both are easy fixes. All in all I love it, great value and solid build for the low cost.

Mine doesn't have those issues.

A set of 57 Classics cured what I didn't like about mine.

Good Luck

Two things I think.

Tune o matic style bridges tend to be made for 12" radius (Gibson style) so you will have to keep a keen eye out for a 9.5" one. Most people use a 12" and work with it.

IMHO a roller bridge offers no advantage to make it worth it on a non-trem guitar. BUT--they tend to be a little taller overall, so if you have a bridge/neck set line that could benefit from more height, the roller may give you a touch more.
