I'm switching out the pickups and electronics in my new Squier 40th Anniversary tele and I'm wondering about the size of the control plate. My google research indicates the standard tele control plate dimensions are 160mm x 32.4mm and it seems the stock one of my Squier is a bit smaller. Any recommendations on who offers a loaded control plate that will do the trick? Thanks - Fred

Thanks for the update. Good to know. I've been eyeing these bodies on Ebay because they came in Sherwood Green but wondered if Fender parts will fit.

For a long time, Squier body hardware and Fender body hardware (bridges and control plates mostly) weren't quite the same.

There might be one remaining issue concerning the Fender/Squier control plate compatibility. The smaller volume/tone pots utilized by Squier have smaller knob shaft diameter. You can retro fit a factory Squier control plate with full size pots, but you might have have to bore out the knob shaft hole a bit to accomodate the larger pot shaft. Control plate is the same size but you might have to expand the pot shaft holes.

Another issue can be the depth of your control rout. If your chosen control plate has large pots or a taller switch, they sometimes can bottom out in the rout. Usually a little careful wood chisel work will enlargen the cavity sufficiently.

Had to clean up the hump in my '19 affinity tele to accommodate. Used a Dremel tool
