There’s been a lot of good teles made by Squier.

What’s the best, in your opinion?

The original CVC has to be up for discussion, as does the original cv 50’s.

My vote is for the john 5. It was on pr with any American fender ever. It is a heavy guitar, but the quality is amazing.

Which is your favorite and why?

Cant disagree there! I have two of the John 5 Squires and the one on the right is my daily go-to guitar pretty much since I got it in 2013 for $299 on Ebay with a case! (What a steal!) it already had two Dimarzio pickups in it. I feel like I stole it haha. Plays as good and easy as any other guitar I own and I love the weight and feel of it. Definitely hard to believe its a Squire. Sure wish I had snagged one of the Gold ones when they came out! Even the black ones are going for $700-900 now on Reverb!

I have to agree with you on this one, man! Over the years, I've owned a few Squier guitars...and the John 5 is so next-level. Picked one up used a week and a half ago & continue to be blown away by the quality, feel, playability, tones & look.

Other than the StrapLoks I installed last week, it's bone stock. Best stock passive pickups I can ever remember playing. In a couple of days my tech is going to install a better output jack, new pots that aren't so hard to turn & re-wire it so it's just 2 normal volumes. My only gripe is that the knobs can never turn the volume completely off (hense the re-wiring).

To be honest it's probably no better than many of the other top of the range Squiers now being made. I bought a paranormal Cabronita thinline about a year ago and have rehearsed and gigged it regularly. Good quality, v nice fretwork and the pickups are great
I also picked up a contemporary strat recently and that's also built v well, the roasted neck is a good size and the jumbo frets came well polished and needing no work.
I just think Squier are really on a roll these days.

I have just got myself a used 2014 John 5 frost gold Tele, and it is so good. It is so versatile, plays clean/mildy overdriven rock as well as crazy heavy distorted metalcore. I love it. Its been upgraded with gotoh locking tuners, kill switch and Dimarzio D activator pick ups. just a big heavy, solid chunk of awesomeness.

I think before you declaring any Squier to be better than all other Squiers, you need to have experience will all the other models. That not only includes all the other artist models (such as the JMascis Jazzmaster), but the early 80s Japanese JVs, the mid-90s Korean Pro Tones, and the Masterbuilts from the turn of the century, not to mention CVs, deluxes and Paranormals.

Oh, and that goes triple for stating that it is "on pr (sic) with any American fender ever."
