It's an interesting problem and some great replies, but I for one am very happy with Zac's way, and it's easy. I would urge OP to give it a try if he's not done so. I was never a fan of the middle (both pickups parallel) position until making this mod to my Teles. I like the blend idea too, maybe one day.

There is another schematic that was on here in the past that also eliminates the neck from tone control
in the N+B position. I don't use it or need it on my Telecasters as the simple one posted doesn't create
an issue on the N+B as is clear and normal even with the tone control rolled back a bit for the bridge
pickup. No Muff here! :p

Bridge pickup goes to tone pot and then switch, neck pickup goes straight to switch. Switch output goes to vol pot, then output jack.

unfortunately, electronically that's the same as Zac's solution where the neck pickup still has the route to the tone cap through the switch in position #2. the order of the wire connections between the bridge pickup / switch / tone pot doesn't matter electronically, you can think of them as all just joining at a single point. the problem is if you're combining the two pickups at the volume pot in position #2 and one has a route to the tone pot, then both do. i like Zac's solution for full brightness on the neck pickup, but you can also add a push/pull pot or a 2-way switch to choose between the neck pickup being connected to the tone pot or not, nice if you sometimes like to darken the neck pickup for jazzier playing. another option would be a no load tone pot where you can take the pot itself out of the circuit so either it's available to both pickups or neither - that allows you to have both pickups with no tone pot in position #2, which i like - increased "quackyness" - but you lose Zac's trick of setting the amp for the no-tone neck pickup and dialing down the bridge pickup tone for simple switching between the two.

This is a simpler way. I just did a video on this.

Hey Zac, I tried your diagram and was able to remove the tone from the neck pickup only position, but now the volume pot only decreases volume a lil bit and acts more like a tone control. Here’s some pics, not sure where I messed up unless I fried the volume pot with my iron.

Wait I think I figured it out. The diagram said the tone pot should be wired to the output jack which I think caused the issue. So now I just have the tone pot middle lug connected to the cap which connects to the ground lug of the volume pot. And the left lug of the tone pot is connected directly to the bridge position switch. While the right lug of the volume pot is connected duds fly to the output of pickup selector switch. Seems to be working now!

As I've mentioned previously in this thread, no matter how you wire this, even using Zak's diagram you can never remove the tone control from the Neck pickup when in the middle position because as soon as the Bridge is selected the Tone control will affect both pickups. The only way it can be done is by increasing the impedance to the tone circuit from the neck using a buffer.

I always use the tone control for bridge and middle, usually set to around 7 or 8 to take out a little sting, and rarely if ever use it on the neck pickup, so his configuration is perfect for me at least.

just how Zac uses it - set the amp for the neck pickup and use the tone control to dial down the bridge however you like it, allowing for simple pickup selector switching between both your dialed in neck and bridge tones.
