Hi:

I hope you are well.

Has anyone used Mojotone to build and tolex a cabinet? If I had the tools, I might try to build it myself.

They have a cool AC15 (left, with the height of an AC30 with a 1 x 12) cabinet that I would have them tweak (not quite deep enough and with VOX tolex, logo and grill cloth) to rehouse my AC15TBX. They quoted me $500; $200 less than a smaller builder.

As @sds1 said they're awesome, I had a custom AC15 cabinet built by them, off white tolex Marshall Bluesbreaker grill cloth and custom control panel cutout. The holes you see drilled in the back were drilled by me to mount the amp chassis. They also made the control panel per my design drawing.

They supposedly have a minimum order of 10 on the faceplates, are they not so strict about it or?
When I ordered mine I had them make 2 so I'd have a spare. They might have changed their policy. For the faceplate I dealt with David Butler davidbutler@mojotone.com and for the cabinet it was Andrew Andrew@mojotone.com I recently had them make another cabinet for me, it's a tweed Super with a Deluxe control cutout. I have 2 old Celestion 10's I wanted to use in it

I had Mojo build me a custom 1x12 cabinet for a tone ring setup. They did outstanding work. They are really great and are willing to do custom stuff for you as well.

The Mojotone AC15 is really just a Voxified Marshall 18 Watt cabinet. They ran with an idea that I had kicked around for years - a Vox AC15 built with the more available Marshall 18W cabinet, chassis and transformers.

What is wrong the the AC15TBX cabinet you have?

It's nice (e.g.birch plywood) but I'd like something a little bigger/taller.

I know what you mean. The shorter AC15 cabs of the AC15TB, AC15CC and AC15C series amps do look a little goofy. That was part of my motivation to build a AC15 in a JMI-era chassis and cabinet. The cab was a Vox-licensed vintage reproduction cab from North Coast Music. NCM doesn't make reproduction cabs any more, though.
