Glen was an absolute monster in everything he did. Check out this video from a tv show he did with Leon Russell- I love this and he’s so chill, outstanding! Edit- oops it doesn’t work here, look it up on YouTube- it will make your day!

I don’t know his music all that much, but really enjoyed the documentary, “I’ll Be Me,” about his illness and his last tour. Amazing stuff. He was unique.

As I watched this video, I realize what an influence he was on my guitar playing, as a young kid.

I kinda knew it; but never really acknowledged it, to myself.

I guess that I looked at him as "Pop", and overlooked the great guitarist/singer that he really was.

In have a deep appreciation for him, and actually got to see him at his theater show, with my dad on a trip to Branson, MO in '95.

Great post!!!

Thanks!

imo.

I grew up occasionally tuning in to his show. His "signature song" always struck me as commerical and never gave it much mind. Years later I looked at the lyrics and realized what a poetic masterpiece it is. As I developed as a guitarist I also realized what a monster player Campbell was.

I love this video. It frames a great songwriter, a great song and a couple great players.

Glen was one of the most talented musicians who ever lived. He was one of my first heroes, and I was fortunate enough to see him live on two occasions. In the mid 70s, my dad took us to the Houston Livestock Show where he performed, and I also saw his Branson show in '94 or maybe '95.

Other than his obvious skill as an instrumentalist and singer, he seemed to enjoy playing about as much as anyone I ever saw, except for maybe Don Rich or Roy Clark.
My dad met Mr Campbell's parents in Arkansas once, and had a good long visit with them.
