Check pawn shops - they often separate guitars from their bags/cases and sell separately. Ask if they have any in the back. Music stores that sell used stuff do the same.

I have a couple of Reunion Blues RBX bags and they seen super-sturdy & protective. My main one is a double electric version, as I usually carry a slide guitar as well as my normal one. With two guitars, cords, straps etc this ends up weighing a fair amount but the RBX handles it without complaint. But if I'm just hauling a tele to band practice, I end up using a Levy's em75, cheap and sturdy.

Levy's 200-series bags are great if you want ballistic Nylon.

If you need a bulletproof bag, ProBag offers thick leather bags that are awesome. I've been using a double ProBag for about 20 years and it's been a good one. It's the one I move my Fenders in.

The highest-quality leather bag I own is made by Harvest. I use it for the Les Pauls because it has internal neck support to completely protect the headstock.

I bought a few for almost nothing at old Guitar Center holiday sales (Labor Day, Memorial Day, etc).

Some of them were crap, but they are good to store instruments.

The two I use are 1990's or 2000s Fender deluxe gig bags. Really nice.

TRIC cases are top-notch.
FWIW, I just rehydrated the Music Nomad sponges I use for my two acoustic guitars. One is my Martin 12-string which came with a well-made gigbag. The other is my Godin Metropolis Classic QIT which is stored in a TRIC case. The sponge in the Martin case was mostly dried out and in need of water. The sponge in the TRIC case was still soft and damp. That’s enough for me to know which gigbag is superior. I may need another TRIC for the Martin.

Is a matter of probability…
You get what you pay for in gig bags. They are expensive but if you are looking for an heirloom lifetime gig bag, these are it. Mine is acquiring that cool patina, looking really nice.

That gig bag costs more than literally every guitar I own except for one.:D

Still £30, from Thomann.
Proper carry straps and enough pocket space, for a backline gig, if you don't use many pedals.
This one has held up well, to five heavy years of bus journeys and bouncing around, in the back of cars and vans.
Of course, if you just want a dust cover, or something to lie on the back seat of your sedan, the choices are endless. I agree with the posters who praised PRS OE bags: they are sturdy. Fender ones are fine but the PRS material seems a bit heavier.
