I need to sell an old 2x12 combo which is slightly less heavy than a Sherman tank.

I'm dreading it. Not worth much anyway but I'll def take 'or nearest offer'.

If an indicator, I traded two amp heads and a 4x12 at GC last month, and they turned them all within about 2.5 weeks. They were not big name brands, so I didn't figure I'd be able to sell them.

Not selling around here, well they are but not for good money. I've been looking at AC amps myself, I quite fancy one to run along side my Marshall and they are really affordable.

.... they are going for around the same price as a Boss Katana 100 used, which is just crazy to me.. but I guess a lot of younger folk looking an amp might prefer a Katana?

Does it have a blue in it? They go for around a £100 more.

Been trying to sell a VOX AC15 and it is not selling. Anyone selling any amps? Seems like shipping costs are really high right now, which is not helping selling online.
One thing I discovered, is using Reverb or Ebay to sell and using THEIR SHIPPING SERVICE, gets you 1/2 to 1/3 of shipping cost as an individual. It's effing amazing.
Otherwise, it's impossible to sell even a speaker now days due to shipping.

I listed a lot of gear recently, three of four guitars, and four amps.
The guitars have sold faster than the amps.
And I do not think I have either overpriced.

The amps and their pricing.

Vox AD15VT - $75
Vox Pathfinder (tremolo option) - $150
Fender Bronco - $225
Laney RB1 Bass - $75

I have had some trade options but nothing serious as of yet.

I sold a Fuchs head on Reverb last year. It was huge and heavy. It found a buyer.

after paying a bunch of money in taxes for my reverb.com sales last year, I’m now listing things only on local Craigslist. Guitars, fix, studio monitors, and nothings really selling.

I've bought 4 vintage BF Fenders (67 Pro Reverb, 64 Bassman, 65 Bandmaster, 63 Bandmaster) from guitarcenter online and 1 BF Super Reverb from Sam Ash in the past 6 months. All were purchased for under market value and I don't plan on losing money on any of them. I always call the store ahead of time and ask the sales associate there to give me an idea of condition and if they can play through it.

GC charges a flat rate of shipping which is about $36 for anywhere in the country. I get them shipped in to GC Hollywood and if I dont like them, I get 45 days to try and return. Often I can talk the manager in to picking up the shipping charge on the return if something was not right, like on a 66 Super which I bought and returned.

I watch the guitarcenter.com used section and they turn amps all the time there, if something is priced right. Currently they have a good deal of vintage Fenders there that are not selling which are priced too high. They also have a couple of Traynors there that I've had my eye on but are too highly priced for Traynors.

Sam Ash shipped my 67 Super from NY to LA for free. Other than buying locally from Craigslist or "local pickup" from Reverb or Ebay, its about the only way to go when buying an amp these days.

Standard shipping using Ebay or Reverb is just way too high. I cant justify paying $150 shipping on a $1000 amp and that is no fault of the amp owner who has to have the shipping costs covered and still price the amp to sell. Unfortunately that is the market these days.

Did Reverb send you a 1099 which you had to declare on your IRS return? Thx.

I have to say, since I bought my Mustang Micro, I've hardly used my Pro Jr, or my Champion 50XL. Both great amps, but for versatility the MM can't be beaten.

Yes, reverb reported me! No tax refund this year, and I had send them some money.
Just because you sold something for a thousand bucks (for example) doesn't mean you made a thousand on it. You bought it, listed it, sold it, paid tax on it, shipped it, and you should subtract all those costs from what's on the 1099.

stuff is selling, people just seem to want to put things in their cart for 3 months and make "offers". just don't buckle from your asking price and eventually someone will grab it if it's worth having.

One more question if you do not mind, did the IRS ask you for your purchase receipts of those items and then compared them to your selling price to determine if you had a "capital gain"? Because if you sold those at a loss, then they should not have taxed you. Thx.
