Hi,

Apparently CTS now makes these metric sized pots for Asian-made guitars. But not surprisingly, as everything is more readily available in the USA, the only vendor for them I can find is based over there.

I don't want to pay outrageous shipping costs and ordering from the USA is always a gamble, because occasionally they get held up in customs forever. Does anyone know of a European vendor for this pots?

I also really wouldn't mind these alpha pots, but I can't find a Euro vendor for them either

The best seeming compromise pot I can find that is readily available in Europe is made by a (I think) Japanese company called Göldo https://www.thomann.de/fr/goeldo_e500l_poti_500.htm

Does anyone have experience with these?

Thanks!

Well I'm not sure how 'European' we are these days .... I usually source my bits from Axecaster.

This may well be the Alpha version: - https://www.axecaster.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=11&products_id=47
The UK was my go to place to order a lot of things that aren't easily available here on the continent ...until Brexit. Now there are customs fees on everything, sadly. I've already spotted relatively hard to find guitars on Reverb.com that I wanted to buy but they were in the UK and the import fees made them too expensive. The saddest part is, I find myself getting things (not just guitar related) on Amazon more frequently instead of supporting some smaller independent UK shop.

In Finland I've ordered stuff from Uraltone, they have metric Alphas at least. I think their CTS ones are imperial.

I suppose those Göldos you mentioned are some rebranded decent potentiometers too.
The Göldos, from what I understand are made in Japan. I just haven't heard much about them so I'm reluctant to buy them. Unfortunately the shipping costs to France on Uraltone are somehow higher than from the USA. Alpha pots are available on Ali-express for just over 1 euro(!) but ordering from that site is always such a gamble. Things take forever to arrive and 20% of the time you receive the wrong item.

Ok, didnt know that! I suppose Uraltone's not so big international player, might explain shipping rates. But here in the north they have quite nice selection.

Thanks. But strangely, this place charges 26 euros for shipping to France. My mother lives in America & she's coming to visit next month. Looks like I'm just going to have to make her smuggle me a batch of them from the USA on the plane, haha. Come to think of it, I could probably order a large quantity of the CTS metric pots to my mother's address, have her bring them to me, & then sell them here in Europe at a big mark up on ebay or something.

The Japanese goeldo sold pots are ok. Very lightweight , not heavy brass , but they are quality parts.
You can get them from Rockinger in Germany , I guess Thomann sell them as well
Goeldo is a German import company , they sell pretty god parts , mostly from the far east... Home of Duesenberg Guitars , and other stuff
