Zippo! Who still has one?

This is rest of my collection, I actually just freed The Rolling Stones one from its damaged case for the first time in 10 years
The beetles and Rolling Stones were my first ones
I really only use the three I showed earlier

I was tired of never being able to find matches to light candles, bbq, etc....., so I bought an old fashioned refillable Zippo. The smell reminds me so much of my grandfather lighting up a pipe back in the day.

Who still uses/carries one?

I recently discovered something that I think has been around awhile, plasma lighters. I don't smoke, but I light barbecues, and candles, and these things work beautifully! Never needs fluid, you just recharge it. They also make them in about the size and shape of Zippo lighters. I do have a Zippo around here somewhere. I used to very occasionally smoke a pipe, and I get the appeal of them, they are pretty cool.

I bought one as a gift, but didn't end up giving it. It's still in the box, along with everything that comes with it. The fuel has probably completely evaporated by now.

I just remembered that I bought one years ago and my bi+ch ex-wife threw it away.

Queen knives were made just down the road in Titusville.

Beautiful knives, I have a few, plus Schatt & Morgan who were made by Queen.
Also in Titusville is Great Eastern Cutlery, if you like traditional pocket knives made with 1095 carbon steel, check them out, they are really nice.

I had 1 for many years. Lost it and my Swiss Army knife in the same bar on the same night. Worst night of my life but I did meet my wife for the first time the next day.

Probably not. The hole through the windscreen is less than a half-inch across, considerably smaller than most cigars. It's made for puffing the flame down into a pipe.

Makes sense.

I have more than a few, though many are unused, (gifts, sentimental, etc) and suffered the same problem as many other folks--even if I only smoked 8 cigs since the last fill, they're still dry before I know what happened. I used to collect the Camel cig Zippos (though they eventually became knock-offs), but always preferred the 'trench' style for the mojo.

I quit smoking about @2004, so they're all sentimental value now.

I have 2 disposable lighters down on my work bench for shrink wrap, etc...one with no flint and plenty of fuel, the other with no fuel but a flint.

I don't actively collect much anymore, but if an unusual musical instrument Zippo pops up, I might pick it up. It all depends on the price, as a collectable Zippos were higher in value in the 2000's, after 2009 prices on rare pieces went down generally, no one was collecting. Smoking continues to decline, so cigarette lighter demand is probably the lowest it's been.

I got these and a couple more over the last 5-10 years. Fender had a number of designs, I have a few but not all as there are so many. They used to release a new designs and retire old ones regularly, but I haven't seen a new Fender Zippo in a couple years.

i have one maybe 2 that i know of..it's a gift from an old friend has the ensignia and stuff from the ship he served on..never used never gonna be..i have another one from the early sixties too..someplace

I have this one Zippo that I have owned since 1982.
Bought it in Germany, and had it engraved with my helicopter.
I was in Army at the time.
It's what we did.

At some point in 1993 I realized that I had dropped it and broken the hinge.
Mailed it back to Zippo (lifetime warranty, right?) and they replaced the hinge and gave me all new innards.

Great lighter, great company.

I gave about 5 away to the thrift store recently, I still have a couple. I used to carry them regularly and keep the extra flints under the cotton flap like a vet showed me they did. There are tricks to making the fuel last longer before evaporating, and if you aren’t worried about the hinge over time, some old school flip/tricks opening and closing them are fun. I’m also nearly an expert at getting an oxidized flint out of a Zippo that’s been in a drawer for years and is stuck under the thumb wheel. The fuel is good for removing sticky residue as well.

Vietnam era? My Dad is a Vietnam vet. I remember seeing a unit crest lighter of his around the house as a kid.

Yup! I still have mine with my VN era Army unit crest.

I just got one with a Rolling Stones emblem on it… haven’t used one in 30 yrs . And I keep forgetting to get the fluid . Making a note for tomorrow
