Our last one just left the nest.
Summer's leaves have fallen & the snow drops lower in the valley.
Twenty years later, we're alone together again.

Sleep until I just can't sleep any longer. Grab the MBAir and check in on the outside world.

Up with the dogs, feed 'em, brew some fine English black tea.

Sit back and scope the property with binoculars, watch the birds at the feeders.

Hit the music room for a while. Play, write, dabble, record.

Fiddle fhart around the house. Run the occasional errand.

Life is peaceful, quiet, low stress. Just the way I love it.

    (Oh man... too many sentences!)

    Three sentences? How about this:

The ones love who us best are the ones we'll lay to rest (and visit their graves on holidays, at best). The ones who love who us least are the ones we'll die to please. If it's any consolation, I don't begin to understand it.

Still enjoying the stimulation of my professional career, not for the $$, many years past my envisioned early retirement.
Also enjoying tremendously the fruitful progression of our children in their lives, now with wonderful grandchildren popping up!
Perplexed about when and what will change to make us wind down our outside or professional lives to enjoy a "fantastic retirement". Is that a fantasy, or is rewarding activity as good as it gets?

    - My sweetheart's smile, her marvelous voice and beautiful singing

    - A music room full of my beloved instruments - acoustics, electrics, banjo, mandolin, and a lap steel too

    - Nature all around my house - the forest, the animals, the river

    - Friends and good meals, and fire in the chimney, and good music again and again

(I know it's four points, but three are not enough!)

I'm coming to grips with the idiosyncrasies of what I hope will be my last career change. My kids are young adults but have yet to leave the nest for good. We have a roof over our heads, food in our bellies and clothes on our backs and for that we are grateful.

    A thousand miles for you
I dried your tears, of pain, babe
    A million times, for you

Oh, wait, that's Billy Idol, not me. I got nuthin'.

Oh.... where do I start? Hmmm... I suppose how lucky and blessed I've been in my life, despite myself LOL! Working on my many sundries of projects in restoration of antiques or building guitars. Currently building a 335 in fact. Having cocktails with the wife and we both hanging out with our good friends, in the recording studio, layin' down tracks and jammin'. Overall just enjoying the fruits of our labors, so long in the making, tons of great memories and experinces to last a lifetime, that we reflect on regularly

Nothing offers more peace and contentment than spooning up to the wife of my youth in the middle of the night as she sleeps and letting her fragrance waft over me.
My job has grown into me in a very fulfilling way.
