But, I don't know how many people know Liberace was from Wisconsin. I didn't know.
Louisiana has got other fish to fry, but I wanna mention
Pete Fountain, who passed away on August 6th.
We've got plenty others I'm sure you're more aware of, but the guy was always so gracious and a superb professional. Very proud to have known him. R.I.P.
Native? No contest. George Thorogood.
Though lots of musicians spent time here including Tom Verlaine, Bob Marley and Cab Calloway. I know that wasn't the question but this is Delaware. We take what we can get.
Ok, this one has a debate going in my house.
So... Will Smith. He is a pretty famous person, and he's from PA. He's a musician and I'm pretty sure his radio career came before his acting career. However, I don't think his music is what made him really famous.
So it might be argued that WS is the most famous person from PA who has ever had a hit song. But I don't think he's the person from PA who has received the most fame as a result of music.
Judges? @blowtorch ? Can I get a ruling on this?
Sweden; ABBA, Yngwie, and Avicii.
Must be the most famous artists, Max Martin behind the desk
Georgia: Ray Charles, Otis Redding, James Brown, and The Allman Brothers Band, most famous? I'd go w/ Ray.
Minnesota: Bob Jokerman Dylan and Prince.
The only famous person from Maine is Stephen King. He's in a band, isn't he?
Curtis was from Chicago.

Forgot the Braun brothers, Mick, Gary, Willy and Cody from Mickey and the Motorcars and Reckless Kelly.
I'm originally from North Carolina
John Prine is from England? I thought he was from Chicago.
Brian Setzer perhaps?
He said Chuck Berry. Rock ON.
Nice additions Harry, don't forget Leroy Vandyke.

Most of the blues greats are from here.
There are loads of "aussie" singers & musos who were born elsewhere but there's one we can claim back for this thread:
- Nellie Melba
- Kylie Minogue
all born in Victoria, Australia.
From an outsider's view I would put Buddy Holly at the top of Texas. There are loads of people in this thread I've never heard of.
Yeah, I think the "famous" part of the thread has long been abandoned. I mean, Don Was is certainly not a household name.
