In the prettiest category, I've got 2 personal favourites - one of which took on a new significance with COVID taking the great Dave Greenfield:

The other special one is Wilco with "Please be patient with me":

The Eagles sure have more than their fair share of "pretty songs"; Sad Cafe, Pretty Maids All In A Row, I Can't Tell You Why, Desperado, Love Will Keep Us Alive, and Don Henley's Last Worthless Evening, to name a few.

Some that strike me are Linda Ronstadt's Blue Bayou and Prisoner In Disguise, Joni Mitchell's Case of You, and for a weirdly pretty one how about Tom Waits' Kentucky Avenue?

The official music video has what appears to be an alternate studio to take of this song. Maybe they were just getting levels right. It shows how consistent and how little editing (although there was some) Jeff needed to record the song.

So what does it say about me that this song is the first thing that popped in my head after reading the thread title. The song is so melancholy/bittersweet and has certainly become a pop culture cliche, but I try not to be a gatekeeper of cool and just go with loving it.

Ironic that one of my prettiest songs was written about another artist of one of my prettiest songs.
