Either put your name in a nice script font or leave it bare.

I think a guitar looks unfinished and generic without something on the headstock. You could make a waterslide decal with an ink-jet printer, but I recommend having them made by somebody who has the proper printing equipment and can make professional quality decals with metallic inks. I have a regular guy who's been doing the decals for all my builds for the last few years. I could give you a link to his site if you want... Then you just have to come up with a clever name (something better than "Mosstone", preferably :) ) and a cool font.

Of course, if you use a waterslide, you should finish over the front of the headstock to protect the decal and make it look all "Joe Pro".

I put my daughters name on a build I did in her honor. Had Rosko n Frost make the decal, they do great work. [IMG]

I put my own decals on. Easy to make with waterslide film and an ink jet printer.

This one is on a smaller (7/8 size) Telecaster clone:

I used Rothko & Frost as well. Roasted flame neck so I went with a bit of a cooking theme. And Neptune is an insider nod to my college band. Went full “Custom Shop.”

It depends on what guitar you are putting it on and what look you are going for.
If you are going for a period correct looking replica then I would use a period correct decal or a custom one in the same font etc. If that's not the case then its wide open to anything you like. You could just put a pic of something cool looking on there and no name or make your own name up.

Seeing as it has gold modern tuners and string trees i'm guessing its wide open to using anything you like.

If you use a Rothco decal be really careful to lightly seal it first, they are printed on top of the decal paper and are very fragile, tru oil or your fingers will strip them if they aren't sealed first.

Nothing completes the look of a partscaster better than amateur graphic design on the headstock.

I went with a simplified version of our family crest on a waterslide decal. Got a whole sheet of them in two sizes so I need to build a bunch more guitars...

I normally prefer a decal of some kind but for the headstock in the OP, I think it looks perfect as it is. Really nice figuring to the wood and I'd leave it just as is.

Why is it, that no one seems to get the positioning right?

... Or maybe I'm just too pedantic.

I thought a lot about doing a Fender logo over and under True Oil on my latest build, and I even thought about doing some wood burning. In the excitement of of getting the build done, I just thought, "To Hell with it." No one will really care if you can rip it up at a gig, and then they'll be asking about your guitar and rig. My Tele Deluxe partscaster is the only one that sports a Warmoth Logo. I'd do it on my new Tele if would fit and look right. My unique Esquire build hasn't had any thing on the headstock, and everyone still asks about it.

Just put a piece of electrical tape where the logo would be...

It says: "If your not going to pay me an endorsement fee, then screw you!"

Put me down for blank or personalized. A nicely figured piece of wood like that, I’d be tempted to leave as is. Anything but Fender.
