What’s your major overkill regarding gear?

I have so many it would days to list them. I think I’ll list the most recent or current ones. I’m at our band room playing some Abbey Road tunes. As you can see, it’s not that large space.

    49F77717-52BA-495D-A17E-A305B1668C00.jpeg

Was doing some sweet Leslie sounds with 85 watt Twin and Strymon Lex and Macca’s bass lines through DB Sub H18 and Yamaha 15” speakers.

The overkill here was that sub. Man, first notes and the grille from lamps on the ceiling came down. Add some plaster and a ton of dust.

I’m really looking forward for this Covid -c*ap to end and going to do some gigs. These stuff are so overkill to keep them just laying ’bout in bandroom.

Helsinki Olympic Stadion, here we come (actually not, we suck musically).

My Mesa stack is in the lockdown conservatory with a Trace Elliott head and cab rig and the living room is currently home to my vintage Marshall JMP... never really thought of it as overkill though.. :) ‘bedroom amps’ suck

My wife’s library is sacrosanct and only hosts acoustics and classicals.

I don't consider anything overkill. I consider anyone a coward who can't take the sheer rawk and volume assault.

Come on, let's be honest. Almost all our gear is overkill.

    I don't need 4 amps.

    I don't need 7 electric guitars.

    I don't even need 6 pedals.

Parts. I've got 3 plastic tubs and a number of shelves filled with parts, pickups, trems/bridges, tuners, etc. Then I've got a lot of cigar boxes, candy tins and the like that may eventually become cigar box style guitars.

Strings and picks. Since the local music shop closed I keep a supply of strings handy. When I get down to half of a 10 pack I order another 10 pack. I usually buy 10 V-Pick Screamers at a time. When I get down to only two new ones left I order another 10

I have four Les Paul type guitars, five if I count my Duesenberg.
The Duesenberg sounds more Gretsch-like, and is slightly larger.
I have two Gibsons, one PRS, and one Larrivee.
The overkill is that they are my least played guitars.
I like em', they all sound, look and play beautifully.
The attraction is mostly physical, I love the way single cutaway Les Pauls look.
The mid-rangey sound and relatively unstable tuning are the reasons I don't gig with them.
The PRS McCarty 594 singlecut stays in tune best.
When I play with other Tele wielding guitarists, the Pauls sometime get pressed into service.
I try to cooperatively compliment/contrast with other players.
Anyways, I'm still looking for the "one".

Amen! With 4 electrics, 2 acoustics, 2 amps I have more than I need. That’s after coming down from a total of 17 guitars. I keep thinking of selling one of two Strats but like both and can’t decide between the two.
I don’t miss any of the ones I’ve sold even though I loved many of them.
Yet there are still guitars that I covet. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I don’t have any pickups but I’ve got cables, mics, stands, miscellaneous crap that I keep but will honestly never use.
As a friend of mine says “you’ll never want or need it until the day after you toss it!”

I have both although I never play them. My Yamaha receiver has AirPlay so I play my iTunes collection through my stereo!

Instruments and amps. I can’t stand to let any of them go. I may go for months without playing one, but after I get it out and use it for a while I remember what it was that I liked about it enough to bring home in the first place.

I went a little crazy spending money on gear last year

( something that happens after not having $$ for a long time/ not buying anything, then getting some money, +good gigs too)

So I bought 3 amps ( all small, and not really expensive), Two I really love and use.
( one for gigs, one for apartment)

#3 I'm thinking, was an impulse buy, that despite being a great deal at the time, I'm thinking maybe I should not have spent the $$?

I only have 1 electric and 2 amps, but I have about 6-7 pedals I never use... so pedals I guess.

    this ^^^

Ive got 14 guitars and 12 amps. That’s not even a blip on the radar compared to many here, but certainly more than I “need”. The thought of thinning the herd has crossed my mind lately.

I doubt that’ll happen though. See there’s this guitar I’ve been looking at....

Well you are wrong about bedroom amps. Must not have tried a modern one in a while. I’ve got a Peavey 6505 MH, Vox MV50AC. They are both fantastic amps!

My Katana 100 is complete overkill. I'm not sure it's ever been off the half watt setting.
