"Lightly used Fender American Professional Telecaster for $1099"
This is at my local favorite guitar shop.
Good price? I love Fenders and have never owned a Tele!

It's OK. You may be able to push for another $99 off.

I have tried several of these but not this particular one. I am so used to the Standards medium jumbo frets that I know I would need some playing time to adjust to the tall/narrow type fret. I gotta' say that bending is effortless though. And I am very impressed by the sound of the bridge pickup. Also, the ever controversial "treble bleed" just plain works very well to my ears.

I love teles as much as the next guy, but it seems really strange to me to spend a grand on one. To me, it's like spending $500 for a great shovel or pair of jeans.

The people telling you that you can get an American Tele for $700 are misrepresenting them. Yeah, you can get an older Am. Std. but not an Am. Pro for that amount. If you like it, that's a very fair price for a guitar that would be $1450 new. Don't listen to anyone but your own heart. If that guitar says to you "I love you, take me home", and you can afford it, then it's the one.

Yes, the used Professional series won't be selling at those sort of prices. I've found through some internet searching that the $1099 used price on these is fairly consistent. Sorely tempted! I may need to drive on over and make an offer.

I'm not misrepresenting anything! The Pro line is just the new name for the Standard line, and I thought we were all in agreement that old is better than new anyhow!

I've played a lot of Am. Stds. that sucked, so just 'cause something is old, doesn't mean it's better. I've played old Martins and '60s Fenders that sucked, too. And, I have yet to hear anyone who doesn't think that the Am Pros are an improvement over Am. Stds. And it's not just a new name. New pickups, new frets, new neck profile, treble bleed circuit, etc.

Looks like it is in good shape and that price seems to be the going rate for a used one of that model in good shape. If you are jonesing for a tele, that looks like a good way to get there to me.

Not bad. If you think about, all guitars you buy "new"has been played by other customers. If this thing looks new, I would buy it.

If you asked sweetwater for 15% off you usually get it so 200 less than that for a used (used is used, i don't care if grandma only shredded it for 20 minutes every Sunday) is, in my opinion, not a great price.

Sharp looking Tele. I'd love to have it. Search eBay for sold listings and Reverb for recent pricing. That should give you an idea of whether you're getting a fair deal. Regardless, try to negotiate. That's half the fun.

Gorgeous!! If that’s unmolested and it plays and sounds as good as the several am pros I’ve played I would go $1k on that all day.

    Plz do report back !
