It's a cliche, and one that people here will poop all over, but Born to Run is a friggin great rock song. I don't care what you think about Springsteen, or how much you hate overplayed FM radio staples. It's a great, great song. There's a reason it's been on heavy rotation continuously for almost 50 years.
Funky Moped (1975) by Jasper Carrott. All those 'California cruising' tunes were great, but this tells of a very British version of the mid-seventies 'road' experience. Also, one of those rare hit songs where the singer had a very similar accent to myself.
