I'm a big fan of a low output (i.e. vintage type) humbucker in the neck. That, plus a single coil in the bridge, is my go to PU combination on a Telecaster. Oh, but I should say I LOVE the regular Tele neck pickup, too!

Cool. Thought about doing that myself. What wiring and pickup configuration did you go with?

It’s a 5-way switch and a push-pull tone pot. The tone pot puts the neck pickup in the circuit so I can have neck + bridge.

I had a tech do the installation. He recommended the Lil ‘59 for the middle. It gives me coil splitting for positions 2 & 4, and the middle alone.

Not sure about the wiring but there are threads here.
Here’s a good discussion:

There are things I like about all configurations. But, just talking Tele here, I still like two single coils.

I like Tele neck pickups, but after trying a low-wind P90 (still single coil) in the neck of my Tele, I really like the way it "grunts" and warms up the neck and middle switch positions. I'm not wiring it to the tone pot so it retains some brightness which I like. Pairs great with a Cavalier Fat Lion or other slightly hot Tele bridge pickup. Very smooth with added gain.

I've probably posted too many pictures of it, but... any excuse:

How can you choose??
Isn't that the reason we own more than 1 guitar??

Not in any specific order, I love them all for what they are

Mini hum, neck; single coil bridge
P 90s neck and bridge
3 single coils
2 single coils
