I figured guitar players only liked horns that stay out of the way of the guitarist.

I do like some horns but my appreciation is really from an unenlightened perspective. I'm sure I am completely ignorant of most of the truly great horn pieces and players. I always liked listening to Louis Armstrong but I couldn't really name his great songs. I'm sure there are a ton of great jazz players I've never heard. I saw a video of Trombone Shorty sitting in with Warren Haynes and a bunch of other great musicians, but it was really Trombone Shorty's solo that blew me away.

Tha being said I always thought this was pretty decent for the bass guitar player on horns.

The Tower of Power horn section is great in this.

Other's have already posted Chicago's Make Me Smile which might be my favorite tune of theirs, but there are many others I enjoy. I also like just about anything from Herb Alpert ant the Tijuana Brass. But of all the horn tunes I can think of this one from Blood, Sweat & Tears still gets me. It's probably still my favorite. Great trumpet solo.

My favorite horn part is the spit valve. I love to watch horn players blow their saliva all over the floor all night long.

Everything on the old Stax/Volt label...

Rolling Stones’ “Slave”, “Moonlight Mile”, “Witch” (*ahem*)...even the simple flourishes on “Honky Tonk Women”...Bobby Keys and Jim Price were a heck of a duo...I think “Slave” was Sonny Rollins?

I've always liked the horn parts in Adrenalina by Octopus... distinctive but well-integrated in the song.
