When the virus has blown over, I'll be getting back together with my blues harp buddy and with luck gigging again. So I've been adding a few blues songs to my rep.

Have any recommendations — tunes you love to play and people like hearing? What are your must-plays? Here's a highly incomplete list of mine:

    Standards:

    Another Man Done Gone
    Baby, Please Don't Go
    Big Railroad Blues
Brother Can You Spare a Dime?
    Come In to My Kitchen
    Crossroad Blues
    Deep Ellum Blues
    Hesitation Blues
    Key to the Highway
    Last Night (I Got Loaded)
    Love In Vain
    Mercury Blues
    Outside Woman Blues
    Richland Woman Blues
    Rolling and Tumbling
    Smokestack Lightning
    Spoonful
    Walking Blues
    You Never Can Tell

    Less-often-heard gems:

    Baby, Don't Tear My Clothes
    Deep River Blues
    Easy Street
    I'm a Hog for You
    Josephine
    Kokomo Blues
    Mean Old Southern
    The Mill Broke Down
    Nine Below Zero
On the Road Again (Not the Willie Nelson song of the same name.)
    One Meatball
    Sinnerman
    They Raided the Joint
    Viola Lee Blues
    White Freightliner
    Whoa Back Buck
Who Walks In When I Walk Out?

    Thanks!

Honorable mention @darkwaters? You must not be from Texas; hey I'm not actually native TX either! At least you got to honorable mention...

Oh, I see, you're from Canada. Apologies. Evabody got their own preference, for sure.

Lightnin Hopkins, all day long. Sure, he's got some electric stuff, but c'mon, Katie Mae Blues is part of proto-rock history.

There's a lot out there, here's a few of my favorites:
    Hello Central, Give Me 209
    Shotgun Blues
    Coffee Blues
    Lonesome Dog, and of course
I Come All the Way from Texas Just to Shake Glad Hands With You...

...and Mance Lipscomb, Jack of Diamonds, jack knife slide on a Harmony Sovereign, or Shake, Shake Mama, or One Thin Dime, just look it all up. It's out there.

Edit: Creole Belle, classic Mississippi John Hurt. Goes over well; played it for years and years.

Never heard of Blackwell. Love it!

"Pallet" is a favorite or ours, but it fell out of the rotation a while back. Thanks for the reminder!

Yup, "Baby, Don't Tear My Clothes" is Lighning. Love that guy. And "Creole Belle" is a great suggestion. I'm adding it to my to-learn list.

Yeah, he was already on the list with "Baby, Don't Tear My Clothes."

    He was a hot ticket!
