I'd forgotten Sarah Harmer - thanks for the knock up the side of the head!
A band I really like is “the deep dark woods” from Saskatoon
Another is cousin harley featuring Paul pigat
When I was living in London ONT in early '80s, Contradance from nearby Windsor was big on the local college radio and played shows in town. Always loved their quirky humour and loose/fun approach to a rockin good time.
The Weakerthans/John K. Samson, The Tragically Hip, Bruce Cockburn...
Bachman Turner Overdrive
Neil Young of course, but also:
Gah, how could I forget Weakerthans!?
@brookdalebill, this is hard!
And yesterday I discovered Ariel Posen:
Indeed great stuff!
I’m a little (or a lot) out of touch with the Canadian music scene.
I’ve been back in Texas 17 years!
My bilingual partial dozen:
Les Cowboys Fringants
Wide Mouth Mason
Great Big Sea
The dude who sings “United Breaks Guitars”
I love Neil Young and a few others mentioned, but he’s lived in the states for longer than I’ve been alive So I’m not counting them.
A few, let's call it a dirty dozen, that I don't think have been mentioned yet:
mentioning the weakerthans and not propagandhi?
i've seen A LOT of canadian crust and d beat over the years and i'm struggling to remember all the band names.
