I'm a noob to feeling BAS, but it feels just about the same as GAS. :D

My two cents to this conversation here: The Schecter and the CV P-Bass in now discontinued Sonic Blue. I'm really digging learning how to be a guitar player who doesn't fake it on the bass.

    My one-and-only, for now:

a 1980's MIA Hamer Cruise that I got for $400, an unbelievable price for what it is. Wicked low end on these beasts; I see them going on Evilbay for $500 which is still a steal.

However, I'm seriously jonesing for an old-school P-Bass with flatwounds for James Jamerson-type tones. The wife plays bass but she's strictly a Jazz Bass girl.

I'm a guitar player who God wanted to play bass. I started my collection in 2008 when I picked up my 1st bass a '74 S.B.Jazz Bass in a pawnshop. Since then I've been on a bass crusade and only hunt for basses in pawnshops, and have been semi successful. Here's my humble little bass collection.

    '09 Hohner B2B $58, '79 Blk P-Bass $180, '79 Butterscotch P-Bass $250 w/ original case '74 S.B. J-Bass $64.64, '75 Ventura J-Bass $165 , '89 S.M. J-Bass w/ original case $315, '88 F.P. Kramer P-bass $129:

A Godin Freeway PJ with a duckbill guard. Haven't seen one in ages. Nice basses.

This one has been 95% done for a few months. I finally finished it today. Story:
    Step 1: want a fretless!
    2: build one
    3: really really miss frets
    4 get a mim jazz
5 swap the bits from the fretless to the fender
6 toss fretless on CL with mim bits installed

    Man I love that.

Also always wanted a Danelectro Longhorn.

Here's my #1 (and I play bass at least as much as I play guitar)

It's a "Memphis" branded P-clone made in the early 70s at the Matsumoku plant in Japan. Killer bass. Got it last year for $40. Needed new strings, had to replace the jack. That's it. No more mods for this baby (unless I remove the pickup cover.)

My only other bass is a Partscaster P-bass. Black, red tortoiseshell pickguard, rosewood neck. No pics of that one for some reason...

I like the Godin a lot. The neck is smooth as glass, and it has tons of bottom end... especially since I roll off most of the highs... I set the P pup volume to where I want it, then turn up the J pup until you can just hear it... then it's about right. I use Thomastik-Infeld flatwounds.

I also have practice bass. I think it's a Kent.
