JMT relic body, Fender neck, Lollar CC's:
I don’t currently have a number one. I have several cool guitars, but none that make me want to play JUST that guitar. Or even use it as my main guitar. I have five “main” electric guitars. I’d like to have just one. Just don’t know if I ever will.
There’s my modded MIM Mustang.
My modded ESP JD600.
My D’Angelico Dead model.
Custom T style my brother made me about 17 years ago.
Number One electric;
2001 Fender American series White Blonde over ash, Lindy Fralin pickups and a 4-way switch.
Number one amp;
Bad Cat Trem Cat. Bone stock. I wouldn’t dare touch a thing.
Number one Acoustic;
1986 Gibson J-100E. Stock pickup needed some solder joints reflowed but otherwise also bone stock.
...and all the while, disgruntled Fenders are mumbling quietly in the background.
I’ve posted pics of it dozens of times, but...

this one probably, my firstborn.... covers a lot of bases, can take a few hits, sounds great.....
* Wilko stacked P90 bridge HB/ either a Warman or a KA from a St Blues guitar in the neck... it's had a few different p90's in it, I just stopped messing around here to do other builds...
unless I wanted to take a flash or beat up F branded Tele to impress....
relatively fresh and unmolested here...
My first electric is still my #1, despite having more expensive and arguably better sounding guitars, I just know the ins and outs of this one so well. It’s always the first one I pick up to try out a new part, find the basis of a new sound or work out something technical. ‘95 Strat Plus.
Number 1 when I stopped playing 2 years ago due to a left hand injury.
The only reason I have other guitars is so I don't wear this one completely out. After 35 years, no guitar has felt or sounded better to me.
Godin with mahogany and P90's
Mine is a 2005 American Deluxe Strat, with S1 switching intact, tone controls modded for a master bass cut and master no-load treble cut, and Callaham bridge bits including an extra long trem arm.
Most of these mods (as well as the gold pickguard) were done in the last year or two, but this has been my main (and most of the time only!) squeeze since 2006.
Your #1 is one of my favorite guitars I've seen posted on the TDPRI.
Doesn't hurt/help that it's your avatar, so I see it all the time
I am extremely fortunate to own several guitars that could easily be my #1, but I think it's this R8 because it really almost plays itself, it weighs 7.2 lbs, and I've never gotten a bad tone out of it.
Please excuse the prison cell mood lighting.
My Custom Shop Gibson Les Paul R7
Are you telling me there is a bridge Charlie Christian?
I’ve always wanted to try the neck now I have more to look forward to
It’s a 2003 MIJ Gretsch 1959 Nashville Classic.
It’s been #1 for about 14 years now.
I’m it’s second owner.
My friend Wade sold it to me for cheap.
Thank you so much...it’s a little heavy...and I have prettier guitars...and I have guitars with better “pedigrees”...and I didn’t like the original pickup configuration (a ho-hum-sounding coil-tapped humbucker was in the neck position when it was shipped from Ensenada)...but...
Dang it, this one felt so “right” every time I picked it up...after some electronic modifications and cosmetic tweaking, it became my “signature” model .
Looks cool, plays great and sounds amazing...can’t help but love it!
