A month ago I toured the original Motown studio ("Hitsville USA"), on Grand Boulevard in Detroit, Michigan. Genius-level music was recorded there, like this Supremes backing track. A single-room basement studio in an ordinary old house!

Detroit itself is pretty cool too.

I was in a wedding band that did this, and lots of other gems.
So much fun to play!
A somewhat odd choice for a wedding band song.
The band did other functions besides weddings where we played this one.

Houston, baby!
Funk bros killed

You have to wonder if they knew they had cut a stone-cold classic, or did they just treat it as another day in the studio? One day they'd record some commercial jingles, the next some supper-club jazz standards, and the next they'd do something like this.
