How often do you do it? Do you have a system?

I just cut off whatever's bothering me, when it starts bothering me...

It's hard to get the bangs just right.

First off I'm a cheap SOB but there are things I don't mind paying for and hair cuts are one of those things.

It's really beautiful when a family cuts their own hair. Harmonious.

Once a fortnight, it's clipper time, hair and beard.

That seems kinda often. For me it's generally more like every spring (mohawk time)

    Thanks for the input though

Mostly baldy here, so I stopped paying around 15 years ago. Have the Wahl Clipper set that you can pick up most anywhere for around $20. Just buzz it every 2 - 3 months with a number 2 attachment. I can do it myself or my wife does it. I think I've had the same clippers now for the whole time, so I've probably gotten about 60 haircuts for $20.

If it's bothering me, and I don't want to have to listen to Nickleback while I wait, I'll cut my own hair.

I first did it while recovering from a surgery in winter. I needed a haircut, wasn't sure about the crutches and drive in the mild snowstorm, thought I don't really have to see anyone for a bit, so what the hell. Turned out better than I expected. Then I got a couple poor cuts and wound up finishing them myself anyway (pre-Lasik I could not see what the barber/hairdresser was doing); so now, on occasion, I just decide why not, I'm dorky looking anyway.

When I do a buzz cut, usually in the hot weather months, I do it myself with the clippers. When I wear it longer, I pay to get it cut then I have to finish cleaning it up at home. Been doing that for a long time and I'm getting pretty good at it.
