I been thinking of getting a pair of cargoes that were kind of suggestive along the same lines as her shirt. THAT ought to improve my singin' quite a bit. I thought maybe I might get the Johnny Holmes model of Cargoes.

Elon Musk surprised me. In a good way. Miley didn't. Also good.

My TV showed it was an old SNL on last night bu maybe the new one came after I checked.
Watched Captain Marvel instead with the CGI version of Sammy Jackson.
Whatever gets you through the night...

Would have been cool to see Mr Musk, but I find younger folks entertaining too, no need for old guys or dead guys!

The girl has a gift, a beautiful, honest and strong voice that is perfectly East Tennessee flavored.

She also has a curse, bunch of idiots trying to convince her not to use it. When she tries to be Joan Jett it’s a disaster.

If she would be true to herself instead of believing she’s somebody else she absolutely would be the next Dolly. But right now half the time she’s wasting her opportunity.

Sorry to hear that, changes view a bit when we go from having to not having a mom.
Every calendar event strikes you for the first couple of years or more.
Mine went in 2011 so I'm used to it, but I also have a clean & sober date that fell on Mothers day when I got my first year in '99 IIRC.
So it was kind of the date she got her lost son back.

Anyhow, I do have a MIL and today I recorded a little instrumental ditty I came up with this morning and played it for her on her face time meeting with my wife. A bit for both Mom's...

Maybe she could just figure out how to be Miley Cyrus.

SNL has always been hit and miss. Kristen Wiig was spectacular, but not everyone’s flavor.

I think it’s more child star burnout.

It seems like she always tries (unsuccessfully) to look as ridiculous as her dad did when he did Achy Breaky heart.

Haven't seen it yet. I expect musk to be the one I'll find grating. I've always liked Miley's singing.

    Nope.

It's the internet age, I'm spoiled, no longer can I sit through the whole show waiting on the 1 or 2 good sketches. Now I wait for someone to say "hey, you see that skit?"

Damn attention span just ain't there anymore.

Can she write? Dolly is an incredibly prolific writer. Not many country artists have come close to her ability in writing and performing.

I kind of agree; I actually like when she channels her inner Joan Jett/Blondie, but I feel like there's some authentic self in her music that doesn't quite get out.

    Elon was pretty good!
Not a Miley fan at all but I did like her second song a lot.

Don’t take this as negative but I am not sure it matters anymore. Not in a lot of genres. I value writing as much as anything. Honestly I value it more than playing in some cases because that is the artistry of music. But I don’t think in 2021 you can dismiss a pop or country performer who doesn’t write.
And I just looked up the credits for her 2020 album and she’s listed as a write credit for all but 2 which are covers, Zombie and Heart of Glass. Doesn’t mean she penned it all, but means she was in the room. I don’t think she is stupid, she comes off as very savvy. So I wouldn’t be surprised if she was writing.
But if you look at popular music there are a lot of successful people who aren’t writing. And Nashville country is full of writers and publishers, obviously. Just saying it’s not a limitation.

Writing is, however, critical in rap. Kids like Quin NFM are sharp as anyone in the biz.
