You can only have one brand of guitar but as many as you’d like.

Easy. Fender or Gibson or Guild or Yamaha or Epiphone. I'm looking at houses right now and I like to have as many options as possible and eventually I'll take what's left.

I'm not playing. I've had a Fender and a Martin for basically my whole playing life since I started playing in the '70s. I'm not giving either up and if you try to make me, I'm not gonna let you...

Yes they do. But I thought about it, and while I could live without my SG, I couldn't do without my Tele. Thus my choice!

as an electric player, I guess Fender. I'd rather have a Fender acoustic than a Gibson electric....

Considering that I have the only Gibson I truly craved, and the Fenders that will last me for a lifetime, if I had, at this point, to answer the question objectively "If you could only have one brand of guitar, but as many as you like, what would that brand be?",

I would have to say, based on a variety of factors,
    * broad selection of styles and models
    * consistent build quality
    and,
    * my past experience with them,

    I would go with Ibanez.

    Go ahead.
    Fire away.

Steve Vai, Paul Gilbert, Nita Strauss, George Benson, Pat Metheny, and many others have my back on this one.

    :)

I am surprised, and more than a little humbled by this.

    Thank you!

If I absolutely had to limit it to one brand, it would be PRS.

Ibanez, I feel like they have the most versatile range.

very few people think outside the norm and develope style in the process, you nail that.
Even though the big name people have mass production on thier side , they lose the creative edge that got them there in the first place, when the fit and finish is lost with the lack of hands on details ,

    Kudo to you!

I said Gretsch earlier, but I really should have said Ibanez. Too many reasons to list here.

Well, since acoustics are part of the consideration, it has to be Guild. The acoustic thing kind of throws a wrench into the real answer, which is: "Fender by a mile."

I thought about this way too hard but it's going to have to be fender, I just can't give up that single coil sound and their options are massive. At least I can still get an acoustic and a 12 string, even if it isn't the best of the bes... average.
