The last Country Music show I watched had a young fella just talking words that were mostly replaced by beeps and he was grabbing his groin area quite a lot.

I think I'll let the wife pick the channel tonight.

Man, somebody screwed up. They let George Strait and Alan Jackson sing a country song. Tear-jerking steel guitar and everything. How could this happen? CS

What was that tele-strat hybrid that Keith Urban was playing? Silver. Strat body with a tele neck and two pick-ups.

They had some technical issues and had to improvise. There was supposed to be a backline of Mesa Road Kings and Dual Rectifiers, but they didn't arrive in time.

Music is about taste and preference, so for some Brad may be better.

Me personally, Jeff Beck's wammy bar over dependency would cause me to listen to more Brad Paisley, if those were my only two choices. I will say they both know how to play better than your average guitar player.

Brad P. makes me mad, he's so good. I would need to compare both in tank-tops (with flat-tops) riding a tractor uphill to make my final decision.

Beck don't do tractors. Beck do hot rods.

    My out-takes from the night:

I saw lots of guitars, but only Brad P used a tele.
So much pyro...I thought it was 1977 again and I was at a Kiss concert.
Miranda and Blake are the new Faith and Tim.
I think most of the "singers" would make more money on the runway than the studio.
Still not sure what is so popular with the duck dynasty thing (I don't have cable).
When Eric Church did his song, I thought I was at a Skynard concert.
    I saw someone fighting Foo.
Jennifer was showing off her Nettles.
George Strait looked like he was ready to go home early.

To summarize...the Nashville musicians got to receive lots of awards...FROM THEMSELVES!!!!

Was Brad Paisley not nominated for any award this year?
I think Wheelhouse is a good album as any.

I walked in late, turned it on, and there is Brad P with that finely compressed sound
coming out of those amps....his sound is always dead nutz on......
    plus, its a tele...!

What is country now?, disclaimer, I'm from the Waylon, Willie, Milsap, Twitty, Jones, Cash era.
A gal needs to be blond to make it in country.(with model-like looks)
My wife kept saying 'is this country?' and 'this doesn't sound country'.
Strait and Jackson tribute to George Jones was the only song I knew/liked.
Dave Grohl can play. period., but, I knew country, and that wasn't country.
Can Kenny Rogers close his eyes? His facial "condition" is not "in".

    Rock on!

    I agree with you emu.
They explained that the CMA awards were voted by 6000 "professional?" music industry members- from what I remember, this is everybody from a DJ to a record executive. So it shouldn't come as a surprise how mainstream country KEEPS becoming- we are repeating the same comments as were made in each decade since the 70's "Nashville Sound". It was a surprise to me that George Strait got the entertainer of the year and I say congratulations to King George. It was also a surprise that Kenny Chesney, who has been filling arenas like nobody else all year, doesn't get any nominations at all as well as Brad Paisley... I've given up trying to figure how things work...

Perhaps if the B/G Bender had not been invented, Brad would be using the bar too.

Is there any music variety show that Dave Grohl doesn't appear on?

Seeing him sitting in with Zak Brown (on electric for a change) was
    a little awkward.
