Yeah, I'm old but I feel the greatest guitarist/entertainer of all time is Les Paul

Gonna catch some flak over this but if ANYONE checks out some boobtube videos etc of Sir Les no one can deny his innovations and guitar skills that spurred GENERATIONS of players/entertainers are the pentacle of performance and technique etc. I'm 60 and grew up through the whole 60's/70's rock era but over the years I realized how important Les was to the guitar community. JMHOYMMV.
Hell, I loved the guy and all he had to share with the world. What a great attitude and innovated approach to what was a pioneering time in guitar history. Your thoughts?
Perhaps this thread should read..."the greatest pioneer of electric guitars of all time".
BTW...His wife Mary Ford was an awesome player too and could keep up with him. She really was a great accompaniment to him.

I think Glen Campbell would get my vote.

Les Paul ? Sure ! I'll also add Chet Atkins, and probably some others... But the craziest, the coolest is probably Les Paul...

    But it's me, OK ? :D

I don't know if it's true, but I heard a story about Les meeting Chet for the first time.

Les asked to Chet to play for him and he decided to play one of Les's songs. Not long into the song Les's jaw dropped and he stammered, "You c-c-can't do that!"

Confused, Chet asked what he meant.

Les replied, "You're playing all the parts at once. I recorded them each separately!"

PS. If you were really old you would have chosen an accordion player. Reported for clickbait. :p

Again, to each their own and I don't want this to turn into a competition. It's meant to appreciate and keep the spirit of Les alive without stepping on anyone toes. This thread is more for Les appreciators and not to knock any other artists. I have a vast appreciation for many guitarists but for me Les holds a special place in my heart and to me, the reason I started this thread.

Les was brilliant, both as a musician and inventor.
