Anyone here have any experience with the Yamaha 311 MS? Ive seen some old posts on this guitar but none with up to date info. It is not the Mike Stern model but there are many misconceptions the MS stands for Mike Stern. They were manufactured late 90's possibly 1999 and beyond for a few years. So the question is, in my research Ive seen some without binding with alder bodies that probably went for $199 new in 99 to ones with binding which were probably more expensive. I have a line on a cream white model with Seymour Duncans but the seller wants $500. I haven't gone to see it yet and I was just wondering if it was even worth the drive.

I believe the M stands for Maple & the S for Single cutaway.
    Anyhow, here's mine:

Love how the volume knob is closer, like a Strat.

That is a nice looking guitar. The one I am looking at is white. How does it play?

I have a 311s model, with rosewood neck. Plays nicely and it is good quality guitar, like most Yamahas. I got it 2nd hand, originals in Europe went for ~600€ if i remember correctly.
I changed pickups in mine for for Lace Sensor Alumitones and refreted to stainless (in my avatar).
Plays nicely, neck profile is on its own. Maybe slightly narrow, have numebers in one thread.

No problem, glad if info helps.
allow me to repeat common TDPRI wisdom, Yamaha's are great value in ANY price range. 500$ might be a ok, for what I've seen they were going for.
    Google "yamaha 311ms price".

There’s a cream colored one here in Virginia but it’s 2 hours away.
