Does anybody like assorted popcorn -tins?

As kids we used to like playing with them after the popcorn was gone. As an adult I appreciated having the popcorn around when drinking beer with friends and family.

Now as a middle aged man I don't really get excited, but I don't mind if they are around, I'll grab a handful without thinking to much about it, but they seem to always be around this time of year....

As a kid, I'd eat the cheese section first, then the caramel, but not as fast...... then we'd work the plain really slowly, and only when there was nothing else to snack on.

Today, I could take it or leave it.

In Chicago, we mix the cheese and caramel. Tasty!

I always go for savoury over sweet, so cheese would go before caramel. Yum!

I prefer the cheese, too. It seems like caramel goes first. The sweet + savory combo necessitates the caramel (or whatever it is they coat this stuff with!) will go down first. Only a theory right now, I will work it up to a hypothesis as the materials become available.

As a kid I'd have popcorn.

Oil on the bottom of the big pot, a couple of kernels in until they're hot enough to pop, fill the bottom with one layer of kernels, put the lid on and warm up the butter, when the popcorn was done, pour it into a paper grocery bag, sprinkle some salt on and about half the butter and a bit more salt, shake up the bag to mix it up, once more with the salt and head to the drive-in.

This may throw a wrench into my theory. I've never opened one of these before, and I hope I never do....

Oh yeah. I can remember getting them as gifts from various business professionals I did work or business with. Kind of a nice inexpensive gift you know will be used and the empty kept around for storage. We used to put the kids stuffed toys in one. There was always one around for the holidays when the kids were little. They thought it was a hoot.

I used to like the caramel corn and cheese corn parts, I haven't had one in over several years and don't really miss it now.

^ :D Los Guys were it possible, I would gift all of yahs a tin. In my younger days I loved those things and I would not be too disappointed if there were not any under the tree. Each year I would buy myself a couple 5lb tins anyway. Nothing says Happy Holidays like popcorn in the carpeting.

I hate them, along with any popcorn that isn't fresh and hot. Once popcorn cools, it's time for the trash, not matter what flavor you put on it.

Mrs Tex brought One home yesterday from the secret Santa thing at work. I like them, really enjoy the cheddar popcorn the best. Never finish the whole thing though.

My wife hates popcorn so I haven't had it in many years. She treats me so bad that old woman!
