One of my all time favorite songs. It's brilliant!!
Never gets old for me. But I could live w/o the MTV video.
Love this song. Great to jam over too..
An all time favorite of mine.
We once had a Pug named Nigel. This song was partly an influence in that decision.
I like that quickly followed by...
i wonder did young nigel ever contribute to the fate of british steel?
Absolutely brilliant. A perfect pop song, perfectly executed. Great work.
If you ever get the chance to see the TV documentary about the band it is highly recommended.
Another great band reamed into musical history by corrupt management.
The first time I heard "Making plans for Nigel" I went "Where do I know that chord progression from?"
Until I remembered where I heard it before.
Apparently Sting was also making plans for Nigel when he came up with this song.
Different melodies and arrangements. Similar chord progressions mean nothing without context of melody or arrangement.
Do I really even need to say this to a bunch of musicians? Seriously?
Maybe Sting should be called out for copying Ben E. King (and Leiber and Stoller)?
Sting did that?!!!
Yes. Every breath he takes. Every move he makes. He'll be copying, too.
excellent! XTC were always clever. and it's a novel tune. in the best way. never get tired of that one
