Would you pay $8,600 for the Staind guy's signature? Gibson thinks so.

Gibson is an easy target these days, but what the heck.
Have you seen Gibson's newest artist signature guitar?
    http://www2.gibson.com/Products/Aco...bson-Acoustic/Aaron-Lewis-Southern-Jumbo.aspx

'51 Southern Jumbo as used by the dude from Staind. I could care less about him and his music, but I got a kick out of the prices:

    $3,653 for the regular model
    $8,598 for the relic version
$17,198 for the relic version with Aaron Lewis' signature

This leaves me puzzled. Is this guy or Staind still relevant? Couldn't you get a REAL vintage Gibson '51 Southern Jumbo for the price or less of the regular model?

I don't really care who gets a signature model as it's all marketing. But I'd think the market that's into Staind couldn't afford those. But I could be wrong.

Wow, talk about "out of touch".
Do you think they will sell all copies of the relic'd, autographed version?
Or will the Gibson dealers unfortunate enough to have bet on these will end up using them in their window displays?

Would not buy the guitar, but have to say I saw Aaron Lewis perform last week in Visalia, CA. He did a great set. Just him on stage with four acoustic guitars in cases on the floor. No guitar showboating, just some good strumming to match his voice.

Who is Aaron Lewis? I'm know I'm not totally hip, but I do listen to a lot of music, and I've never heard of Staind.
    I must be getting old.

Don't laugh, in a few years someone will think that those Experience Hendrix Gibson prototypes will be worth lots of money (just not to me...) and will be advertised in Vintage Guitar

Saw them at the Sprint Center opening for Creed. This new marketing attempt makes as much sense to me as the Buckethead LP.

My opinion on the guitars is not necessarily the same as my opinion of the player.

I wouldn't pay that kind of money for that crap if the whole band came over & cleaned my house--My opinion of anybody that buys a "relic" guitar with fake mojo is that they are the ultimate posers, sort of like those people back in the day that put fake mobile phone antennas on their cars,or fake stick on louvers on the side of their car fenders, or phony kickstarters on their electric start Harleys. There is an epidemic of phoniness & pretentiousness going on in this country, & it all started with "relic" & "aged" guitars. And if you're gonna offer a signed guitar,at least offer one signed by a REAL artist, not some hack from a band most people haven't heard of. There, I've had my rant. I feel better.

Obviously, and foreseeably, the page about the guitar has already evaporated.
