I once bought a Heritage H-550 off of evilbay with no pics for $1000, and was VERY pleasantly surprised with what came. In this instance, I knew the model and pretty much what I was going to get (natural flame maple), but I was floored by the amount of flame that it had. $12.5K for a guitar, in general, and particularly for one that will "lose value" the second it's opened, and one that part of the value is based on the appeal of a guitarist in a band that my response to is, "meh," is a VERY hard NOPE! When I opened up the Heritage, this is what I found:

“Let me think about it…” 🤔

(10 milliseconds later)

HECK NO!”

This has some “Emperor’s New Clothes” vibes to it.

no, because the first thing I would do is open it... so what's the point? I don't really understand.

If I'm buying a new guitar on line at any price I want pictures that show it from all angles as well as having it set up to my specs.. You can't do this without unsealing the package it arrived in. I would want the guitar shipped in an appropriate hard shell case inside the now resealed box it arrived in from the factory and then that box placed inside a shipping box. I also don't like guitars shipped in soft cases. They just don't offer the protection I feel the guitar deserves before putting it into the hands of "The Wild Bunch" from whatever shipping company. I've worked out deals with online dealers to swap out a soft case for a hard case made for the same guitar and charge me the difference in price between the soft and hard shell case. Soft cases are super popular these days and the dealer knows he can sell it without any problem. Be it $12,000 or $1200 an online guitar purchase should never be made without seeing pictures of the actual guitar that will arrive at your home.

No. Not my thang.

I am, however, willing to offer a trade!

Yessirree, step right this way. I’ve got one authentic Indian head nickel, actual date unknown, because it’s been well and truly relic’d, no phony artificial wear.

Guaranteed to be at least 83 years old - that’s real vintage!

This amazing and “Rare” numismatic specimen will be delivered in a custom made, fine solid cherry wood case (case not available for viewing yet) but will be guaranteed, artisanal craftsmanship and most definitely one-of-a-kind.

Value of trade package guaranteed to be worth more than one plug nickel!
