Would you reshape a headstock you don’t find appealing, especially if the headstock shape is clearly done to avoid legal issues (rather than a good appearance?)
Also, not a real contender as a future classic?
I am thinking about a possible acquirement of a MusicMan Sterling style, but... I am just not a fan of the upside down teardrop.
I did round a Fernandes Strat style and never regretted it... the next owner probably liked it better anyway.

Asking here for general consensus opinion (rather than at a workshop forum.)
    Thanks.

Either keep it as-is or walk away. No headstock mods for me. Too much hassle .

    I did, twice.
My avatar guitar neck started life with a Strat headstock.
It wasn’t “bad”, I just wanted a Tele headstock.
I also modded the headstock, and upper body horn on a Cort Hiram Bullock model I once owned.
I’m fearless, or not too bright, or something.

Several companies that make Tele, Strat and JM neck replacements leave a little sharp point that can easily be sanded off to replicate the Fender shape. I have done that to all my partscasters.

Yes. If you have the ability and tools to do it well, absolutely re-shape it.

Sure, why not? It's your guitar. Make it your own if you like.

There is no "wrong" unless it's a particularly valuable instrument...and even then there are players that don't care about that aspect either.

I reshape headstocks all the time.... a tele must look like a tele....

often cheap ch tele necks are wrong... I get strat headstocks and reshape them to tele... more wood to work with...

or glue wood on to suit....;)

As long as you are not trying to pass it off as something it is not, who cares?

I'd much rather play my guitars than spend hours modding, carving, refinishing, swapping electronics and hardware...

But for those who enjoy that approach ... Have at it !!!!

If there were dead spots on the neck I might reshape the head stock.

(but t I would try something like a small clamp there etc to try to shift the frequency of the dead spot)

Otherwise the hdstock is what it is...

the guitar is about the sound!!

Re-shaping a headstock to something you prefer is fine. I do have a problem with the phony water slide decals though. That's just not right.
