I have an old Tube Screamer and a Wah. Perhaps I should check if they are still working.
I like choices, so not really. At the same time, I play just through an amp sometimes and it is always fun.
Hmm, it would be a stretch....but I could probably survive a gig with only wah, overdrive and delay.
My T-Rex Gull Wah and my Strymon El Capistan are pretty much set. The overdrive would either be my OCD or my TC Dark Matter.
It would not make me really happy, 'though, but I guess it would be more of an issue for me than the audience....
Luckily I play blues. So an overdrive pedal is plenty.
A Bandit and a pair of DS-1s stacked.
Bandit has a reverb tank so that's sort of a pedal.
I limit my choices to what I can put on a Pedaltrain Nano+. Currently have one for bass with 4 pedals & one for guitar with 5.
Boss BD2 and Boss DD3 would get the job done for me.
I think I could easily get away with 2 - 3 pedals, I prefer nano sized boards and generally swap out pedals depending on the type of music.
Classic Rock, I would use Twin Bender, Plimsoul, Dunlop Echoplex.
Country, I would use my Visual Sound Route 66 & a TC Flashback, plus a Trelicopter if the Route 66 only counts as one pedal.
I have a big board with vol, comp, boost, a few drives, delay, and reverb all driven by a MIDI switcher. If I’m leading at a church gig I program the whole set in the switcher. If I’m playing just color and lead lines or on any other gig, it’s Tim<delay<reverb.
Yes. My board has 4 pedals, but I do a lot of gigs with just an overdrive and a tuner.
As long as they are two overdrives and a delay, that's all I need.
You know, I could. So that makes me wonder why I’m thinking about building a bigger board. My amps all have good reverb, and on two of those amps the reverb is foot-switchable. So I could easily gig with the footswitch, two drives (BB Preamp and Joyo Sweet Baby) and a delay.
I usually have only 5 on my nano+ so it’s not that big of a difference.
I used to have 18 and now I have two. I moved more and more toward cleaner guitar and it made me a better player and more interested in guitar itself rather than gear.
I can mayyyyyyyybe see that happening in the future. For now, dayum! Pedals are fun.
Now that I have a Big Sky, I don't feel I could ever do without one. My response before would have been 'just one analog bucket brigade delay'. Now its big sky, one bucket brigade style delay, and a TS style overdrive. I could shave it down to just the delay and the verb if I had an amp with world renowned tube drive (I currently just have amps with decent tube drive and need my green rhino).
Compressor, Overdrive, Delay.
They are. I like my two: JHS tidewater and tube screamer analog man mod.
I play jazz through a vintage PR (modded so the phase inverter doesn't distort) and had been using no pedals, but recently got a Rivera Sustain Shaman because I was jealous of our reed player's ability to sustain notes on ballads.
