Would you be fine with just 2-3 stomp boxes?

Would you be OK 90-95% of the time with just 2 or 3 stomp boxes?
    Modulation, effects, whatever?
If not, what is your minimum? And what are your must haves?

I need a comp, an overdrive and a delay. Everything else (other then a tuner) is gravy.

I rarely use more than 2-3 at a time and I often play straight in. My TS9 was my only pedal for a long time!

I only play at home. After having a board set up for a while it seemed kind of useless. Now I don’t use more than 2 at a time, don’t miss having the whole set up at all

I only have three, currently. My go-to amp, a Kustom Coupe 72, has built-in tremolo & vibrato, and both channels offer plenty of crunch for anything I need. It also has a footswitchable boost. Maybe that's cheating, but it eliminates the need for at least a couple of pedals. I can definitely get away with no pedals with this amp.

So the only pedals I have right now are a fuzz, an MXR Micro Amp, and an MXR Carbon Copy Delay Brite. I mostly use the Micro Amp as a boost when playing through my Fender USA Blues Deluxe.

Probably not. I use comp and/or boost, overdrive, delay...oh so much delay...reverb and trem. Looking to get into some other modulation too eventually. Also, a looper. Want to get a better looper to replace my Wally. Plus, there's a few other cool pedals I'd like for ambient stuff.

My must haves: Joyo d-Seed delay, TC Electronic Spark Booster, Mosky Golden Horse, amp trem or Suhr Jack Rabbit.

I would need delay, wah/envelope filter and overdrive. But compressors flangers etc are nice.

the only things I really need are reverb, tremolo and some kind of dirt box to play slide with. a flint and an amp eleven would get me through any gig.

some amps don't need anything, though.

I need my Mr. Vermin (Rat clone), my wah, and some kind of modulation - phase, chorus, delay, etc.

NO. But I don’t need more than 5-6: tuner, od, fuzz, wah, tremolo, reverb. Into a 5E3

Dirt, Fuzz, Delay... it'd be like eating ramen noodles every day, but I could do it.

I'd be fine with zero. Or living in a tent.
    But I don't have to

This is a loaded question depending on whether your amp has anything built in. If the amp has channels or reverb or tremolo do the amp’s footswitches count as pedals?

My amp has nothing built in, but does have 2 channels and an attenuator, so dirt is very optional.

I would definitely take the channel footswitch and a reverb for the first 2 and then it’d get much harder to decide after that. Probably delay would be #3.

For the most part (gigs and jams) I just use a tube driver, comp and clean boost.

Reverb and tremolo in the PRRI, so they don't count. So top two for me, not counting tuner, the super-gooped Tone Monk Om, and the old purple Boss flanger.

Also a 72 owner. What a hidden Jem she is. One of my favorites of all time. Hope you added cooling fans though!
