Looks great and kudos to you and your company for making a unique product. Airline Guitars have a huge following and many people love them - Jack White from the White Stripes plays an Airline as his main guitar and his sound is excellent - would love to hear a few sound samples from it.

What is the weight? Can it take Fender parts? Have you tested resistance to heat and cold? Is it easily repaired in case of a chip, crack, split, or general wear?
Have you considered facing Fender in court about the headstock shape?

PS: is it painted or is the resin colored?

I just weighed it on a standard house scale and it comes in at around the 5-6lb range. And yes it can take fender parts.

As far as resistance to heat and cold goes, it seems to be fine. Ive been playing it for about a month now, trying to abuse it a little to find any issues. I would take it to rehearsals, going from 30degrees outside to say 70 room temp and never had any issues. And these guitars are modeled after the vintage ones and they never had any problems with temp change.

And repairs to the body in case of chips and cracks wouuld be a lot easier than with wood. Its basically made out of the same stuff as your cars bumper, so chips and things like that can easily be repaired. But you might have better luck taking it to a body shop than a guitar shop.
And the guitar is actually painted.

And yeah I might take them to court:) but no I will have to change the headstock before I get too big, but i was hoping i could just slide under the radar for a while.

I'd be interested to see, hold, and play one myself. What kind of price range are these shooting for?

Interesting indeed.

1. Looks brilliant. I'd be interested. Shell pink, vintage frets, 7.25" radius?

2. Under the radar with the headstock shape is a great idea. This isn't a public forum but it's readable and google spiders it. A great way to stay under the radar would be to crop the headstock out of images you post on the Internet. I'm not saying this to be an a-hole.

3. I want to see you stick around here. Please review the forum rules and make sure you list yourself as a vendor. I hate to see people get smacked about rules and feel unwelcome when a friendly reminder would go a longer way toward gaining a valuable member of our community. I hope this succeeds. Why should Danelectro owners get all the loud, resonant, plastic guitars?

Do you know the German company Basslab? Their instruments are made with no wood at all. Check out the "Theta" guitar.

Wow, they make some...interesting...guitars. The 'Theta' at $3230 USD would be so far down my personal list at that price point it would basically never be worth considering.
Different strokes...

We arent 100% on the price right now but it looks like around the $900-$1400 range.

Yes much more rigid with much more strength but still the same basic material.

What a cool guitar! For Christmas in 1965, my parents gave me my first electric guitar. It was a National Newport...one of those map shaped, reso-glass, single pickup (red with white e type binding and plexi p/g) deals. If I knew then what I know now, I'd still have that puppy!

I would have to say that if I was in the market for a new tele....and I had the cashola, yes....I would most definately take the plunge on one of yours. Great idea....and I bet they sound great. Best of luck to you in your new business. Very, very cool!

I think this is a really cool idea, and I'd love to get my hands on one. But at that price point, no, I would not be buying one.

Interesting... I have a couple of original resoglass guitars. A white Val-Pro 84 and a black Newport 88, they are great guitars. I do find that they have less tuning stability when playing outside and the temperature changes than my wood guitars do. as in: if the temp goes up or down 10 degrees they are more out of tune than my wood guitars.

Have you compared tuning stability to wood guitars?

Any reason you chose not to make 2 pieces joined with a rubber strip around the outside like the originals and the repros made by (link removed) ?

I love the idea, kingjack!

I am a sucker for old Danelectro guitars, and this should be even better. Looking forward to hearing more about them as they come closer to production.

What is the price point?

I found that the resoglass guitar actually holds up better to temp change tuning issues than wood. Which makes sense to me because fiberglass doesnt expand and contract like wood does. But most tuning issues in temp change comes from the strings tightening when its cold or losening up when its warmer.

And yes i did try making these guitars like the originals with the two peice body and the rubber strip, and I even ordered the repro binding from that site. But i just found that the binding was hard to work with, so I went with the one peice construction. And I think i liked it more as a one peice than two peice because it still has the classic tele look.

Glad you like the guitar! It looks like the price point for the guitars will be around $900 to $1400 but were still not 100% on that. But i think its pretty resonable, its around the price of a usa tele. Much cheaper than the original resoglass guitars which are going through the roof, and much cheaper than other handbuilt guitars.
